I thought it was more of the same - more of the same AWESOMENESS! It had all of the elements that makes the TV version what it is: Bill is a wimp, Sookie gets mad at Bill, Bill and Sookie passionately reconcile, Tara has mother issues, Sam has a shady past, and Jason does something stupid.

IT ROCKED BIGTIME! I have all the books, and I think that they have done an awesome job on this series! Of course, my Eric was a little more viking manish, but hell..it rocks!

Whee, I just watched the first episode and... well, I dunno yet.
I've read all the books and thus may be a little bit biased (ERICCC!!!!) in that regard - but I do like that they throw in elements that are unexpected to people who have read the books. They don't follow them perfectly - like the whole thing with Amy and the drainers and Miss Jeanette in the first season were -completely- made up for the series. However, if they fuck up Eric, I will be pissed.

Eric is cool but I couldn't get into the books and don't understand the fascination with him. I prefer his sidekick, Pam, for her wit.
I really liked him last night though. "Shushing won't do any good sweetheart. We hear everything."
I thought the episode was really good too. The continuity was spot on, which I loved. It was like there wasn't even a break. I thought it weird Bill killed Uncle Bartlet in the first season and it was never discussed, so it was nice to see that come up again. Also, Eric threatening the patrons of the bar that the Vampires know who've wronged them - now he's doing something about it!
Kinda makes me want to go back and re-watch season 1, because there might be a lot of little loose ends that will be picked up this season.
Jason storyline is a bit silly but I guess it's in character. I thought it was weird that he would join an anti-vamp church when he seemed to care for Eddie last season and also seemed to understand & support vampire rights in the end. But he also seems clueless and doesn't see the Fellowship for what it really is.
And best of all! Thank goodness my Lafayette is still alive. I knew they wouldn't kill him off. He's just too good.

ERIC! indeed. I loved seeing him in the middle of getting his hair dyed, though. It brought the lulz. xD I really like the spin being put on the material provided by the books, with the exception of so much unnecessary Tara. Also, I keep waiting for Bubba to show up. D: I liked him.

Well, in the books, Eric is... more realistic than Bill, in a way. He's not the mopey "oh woe is me and my fangs" type of vamp like Angel from Buffy or Nick from Forever Knight - or like Bill. He's more... Spike or LaCroix - enjoying his unlife, aware of his nature, and not apologizing for it. Oh, and funny. Very funny in his own way. Yet also very practical when it comes to the boring everyday stuff. Definitely my fave from the books and I hope we see a lot more of him. :D

Ok episode 2... Very good! I literally moaned with annoyance at the cliff hanger ending. CANNOT WAIT. Maryann is starting to grind my gears. I'm starting to hate her character. I still find her interesting and I want to watch her, so I'm not *annoyed* by her! I just want her to get found out and dismantled... though I'm guessing the latter's going to be impossible.
Jason's storyline hate.
Eric is getting really cool. I wonder what happened at the end with Lafayette. Will he be a vamp?! My guess is he'll be improperly turned.
Damn, this show makes me wish I was a vampire.

I love the show, but I'm not a big fan of what they're doing with it second season. I know that in order to keep the show going, they have to mess around with different characters and storylines that aren't in the books, but it irks me. Lafayette was supposed to die, but he didn't. Errrg. I love the books. And Eric. Love him. Haha.

The TV series is a little more graphic than the books and I'm not too crazy about that but of course I'm thrilled that it's being made into a series and that it was picked up for a second season. So many of my fave vampire series just die quickly (Blood Lines, Moonlight, Kindred to name a few). But I do love Eric in the books and I pictures him much more handsome than the actor and much real blonder. After all, he is a Viking - he should be a "natural blond." And Jason is just a doofus but I really like the actor playing him. You see a lot more of him in the series than the books.

Why? Not everyone in Scandinavia is blonde, I should know since I'm not and I'm Swedish...
I haven't read the books and I'm not planning to, but I'd guess that everyone who has read them, has their own image of what the characters look like. I personally think it's a big plus that the cast is pretty normal looking and not hollywood perfect and also, what some people find attractive may not work for others. I don't really have any favorite character or storyline to speak of but enjoy the show as a whole.
