Is there any way to age down sims?
I've been playing a family and I've really gotten into it, only now the dad is an elder and I don't want him to be just yet! I want to age him back to an adult -I just wished I'd stop aging before he turned to an elder so I could make ambrosia. But now I fear it is too late.
Is there any way? (apart from mods)
Any cheats at all?

Isn't a mod a cheat? :)

:wtf: Umm... not necessarily. A mod can just be something that fixes an annoying bug.

All a matter of personal definition, and I personally think yes. I still use them anyhow. :P
And to answer the original question, No, I don't think there's any way to age sims down...though I know that giving them an early birthday can kick them UP in age. It may come out in a hack or something, but likely not in the game itself.

Yes there is, I did it when I made a ghost playable and wanted him younger. What you need is the Awesome Mod found here:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15185.0.html.
Install it and boot up the game.
Once ingame go to household and click on the sim that you want to make younger
bring up the cheat console (ctrl+shift+c) and type in "editsim" or "editme" and the game will load to CAS.
Its the full CAS so you can edit bodytype, eye color, or age, etc.
Its just that easy!

A hack is generally a cheat. A mod is a "modification". So anything that's modified. Whenever you rebuild your house or redecorate, you're modding it. You could then upload that and call it a mod.
Either way, The Sims is a life simulator. Have you ever suddenly decided to become a child again? You don't do it in real life, and while Sims bends reality a little bit, you're breaking The Sims reality.
If you don't want to use a mod, I don't think you've got much luck. Hopefully you'll have as much fun with his children as you did with him. Because that's kinda the point.

A mod is a is something to alter game to work better, a cheat is something to alter your gameplay. That's my 2 cents.
There is no known way to alter age other than the eternal highlander, non evolutionary EA way. Kinda sucks when you want to have kids. Maybe one of the developers here will take the challenge! :D

I actually stipulated a cheat - and not a mod, because I'm dense and I didn't yet know how to install mods (lol) but I've worked it out now and I'll try that mod lord rizen, thanks! Only thing is, once you don't want the mod anymore how do uninstall it - or is that a question for a different forum?

Lord Rizen. does the actual instructions for that mod actually specifically advise you NOT to change the age or weight of your sim using that option?

Yea! it worked. I changed him in CAS. but when I went back to the game he was still an elder. So I went into CAS using the mirror, and then changed his clothes using the dresser and when I went back to the game he was all changed! Now I've put the lifespan onto epic. The kids aren't even grown yet (they had them when they were YA) and all the kids grandparents are dead already, even their uncle is dead and he was the same age as their mum when he started out. So I'm a bit depressed that nearly all the family is gone, I didn't want the dad to go too! His son is still a teen! Any way I'm on Epic lifespan now, so hopefully they won't all go so soon.

I think if you put their age to Epic then hold a Bday party for the kids, the kids will age?
**Confirmed, if you turn aging off then you buy a cake and have them blow candles they can grow up without having the parental units turn into seniors.

That is does. I didn't even see it until now. Well what's done is done. I didn't get any problems from it and neither did the OP. So I guess the experiment works!
To the OP, if you want to get rid of the mod just delete it. That's all you have to do. Oh, and another way you can age up your child, if you want to cheat some more, is to go to the cheat console type testingcheatsenabled true, shift+click on the desired sim and click on age sim up. That's a maxis cheat so it'll be there regardless of the mod.
DISCLAIMER: FOR ANYONE READING THIS THREAD AND THINKING ABOUT USING THE CAS CHEAT, THIS METHOD HAD WORKED FINE IN THE PAST BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL FOR YOU!!! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN PERIL!!!

Yup, there is a way without cheating. Grow a life plant and eat the fruit. You have to find one of the rare seeds that grows this plant. Don't ask me where I found it, but I grew a plant and feed the fruit to my girl daily.

Life fruit adds days to your current life stage, it can't take you back to a previous life stage.

Yes, there is one, im not sure if it works though..
There is two cheats I have hear of.
1. Open the cheat box and type in agingsims, then click on your sim and click "set age" and select the age you want.
2. Type in Set Age in the cheat box.
Cheat no 2. didnt work for me, I think it only works with the american versions of the game.

Holy necromancy! A thread resurrected from June, impressive.
jellyboop:
As far as I can tell, neither options you specified are legitimate cheat codes in vanilla EA-Core.
Cheers. :)

Editing bodytype in editsim won't work. The sim will revert to his/her old bodytype.
JM added "setfitness" (0-1) and "setfatness" (-1 to +1) in Awesome as console commands if you want to edit body type and have it stick.
I think you can age sims down using the editsim command, though.

I've tried everything mentioned here, but the only thing that seems to work is this (I discovered this one myself, but it's probably mentioned here)
press: Ctrl+Shift+C
type in: testingcheatsenabled true
shift+click on sim you want to age
click: edit sim in create a sim
click: basics
then just click on the age you want them to be!

Revivin' dead threads :< But for the future googl'er who may stumble upon this thread.
I use Twallans Master controller with the added "Cheats" mod. ( i think its in cheats anyways) Which in under "intermediate" shows "age" and you can fiddle with them numbers as much as you want, and of course if you want to completely jump an age group, the master controller works again as you can also use it to edit in cas.
The edit in CAS option is the only thing that keeps me playing with regular sim townies as i can just quickly edit everything that walks in to my view. Muahaha.
I cant live without Twallans mods. <3<3

In response to our friend the thread necromancer, the appropriate way to do it would be to buy a young again potion with LTW points, or make one with the chemistry set.
