View Full Version : How to move a grown child out and have them live in the neighborhood

My legacy family is about to have their grown children move out(I know, I play slowly), and I want to have them continue living in the neighborhood, so that story progression can have them live their lives while I continue to play one of the siblings in the legacy house. However, I want to make sure I move them out properly. My first idea was to move them out and then place them in a lot manually, but I'm afraid that by doing that story progression will make me lose days in my legacy house that I'm controlling. My current idea is to make them fall in love and move them out to another sims house(can I even do that? :\), but that would be boring to do every time. Is there another way that will just boot my grown children to the neighborhood, so they can continue having their own story, without me having to romantically set them up?

Just go to their inventory and click on the mobile phone. Click "move."

So that would make them continue to live in the neighborhood? I don't want them to just go to the sims bin, and never get placed.

Nope you decide where they'll live. :)

No, they don't move away from the neighborhood, a taxi comes and they move to a different house, you can pick the house they go to. If you want to play them just go to "edit town" and switch families.

Ah, I understand now. That is what I wanted to do.
Thanks for the explanation. Now I don't have to dread having to marry off my tomboy daughter when she ages up, just to make sure she stays in the story. :)

Or you can kick them out if you're feelin' lazy.

Is there any hack yet that will stop my sims loosing their entire inventry etc when I switch active households to set up my offspring? Other than the awesome mod which also does a hundred other (very useful!) things. I just want them not to loose their inventry - everything else I'm ok with.

Carladam, the Awesomemod is very configurable: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/awesome/config.php
You could simply leave that option enabled and disable everything else.
ETA: good grief, the Awesomemod has grown huge. Stupid "one mod to rule them all" EA programming. Nevertheless, throw some chum at Pescado in gratitude for making the huge chunk of hack configurable.
