Hi! I was wondering if any of you guys can help me. I've read in a lot of places that deleting the cache files will help with problems and errors. I'm hesitant to do this incase it makes changes to the game. Can you tell me, if I delete the cache file will my sim loose its inventry/wants/challanges etc? (I am unable to use the awesome mod cheat as it consistantly crashes my game)
I also was wondering, my game gets rrreeeeaaaaalllllyyyyy slow after about 8 -10 hours of game play could this be reset by deleting the cache? Thereby speeding the game up again?
One other thing, In relation to a sims inventry, if I take the items from the inventry and place them around the house will that stop the items from being deleted in a "switch active household" situation?
Thanks so much for all your help :)

Deleting the cache files, as far as I know, does no irreparable damage to your game. I use the awesome mod as well and removing scriptCache from the folder prevents it from crashing on the loading screen. You might have to do this a few times because the file keeps coming back, I've got multiple scriptCache files in my recycle bin at the moment.
I have that same problem you do with the slow down and I'll give that a shot. I don't know if it works but because my PC is fairly old (I'm buying a new one in a few months) it can't run the game very well on higher settings and tends to crash alot.
Awesome mod fixes the problem with disappearing inventory items and it also enables you to Ctrl+click on any Sim or household without having to go to Edit Town -> Switch active household.

Have you tried saving and quitting the game and restarting your computer? It's quite common with games that this will help if a game starts slowing down after a number of hours.

Wow, you're playing 8-10 hours at a time?

I think it might actually have more to do with the save file. Take this for example, I have a save that I have been playing for around 200 hours now and saved over many times, the file size is about 50mb in size and is experiencing the following described above, with the addition of slower render times in the neighborhood.
Now with a new game, I don't see any of these slowdown problems.

*blush* dont tell my mum ok ;-) I'm supposed to be resting my pregnant bellie, not be sitting scrunched up over a keyboard playing sims. She thinks I sleep or lay on the couch and read most of the day.
CrazyAce, I actually started to notice the slowing after I had saved a few times, So you might be right. Any idea how to combat this issue?
