It really is a unique sim experience. Make them friendly and charismatic just like a successful con man is in the real world. Someone everyone loves and trusts. It's cool to "scope" out the neighborhood, decide who the best targets are for stealing from and go after them. The map takes on a whole new meaning when it becomes an income source and you are determining who is at home and what they still have left that you want.
For the ones who have not played it's pretty simple. You can only steal after dark 7:00pm you can only steal 3 items per day which means if you show up at a person's house at say 10pm and then steal your last item at 12:01 that counts as an item towards the next day. So timing is important. you cannot pick which items to steal but you can click on the floor of a room and your sim will select an item. So it can take several trips to get the HD TV out of a room.
You cannot steal when someone is in the room or an outdoor item if someone is also outside even if they are in the backyard and you are in the front. The last one I played had a sports car and a completely upgraded kitchen and bathroom and an HD TV in about 5 days.
Things you steal only sell back for a fraction of what they are actually worth but it's still sick money. You have to be sneaky and there are times you will be worried you are going to get caught so it's much more interesting than clicking "paint" and taking a nap in my opinion.
