Mac Help- ALL MODS NOT WORKING!!

Ok, I have tried 5 mods already. I run a mac and when you download something it auto unzips it. I have a pile of .package files and I went to (user)/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Downloads and put one VERY SIMPLE MOD into the folder. Then I closed it, ejected the disk, restarted my computer, and reinserted the disk. I checked on my computer to make sure the file was still there. Then I opened sims, I created a new game, and looked for the result of the mod, in this case, certain fish at the grocery store.
There was ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE TO THE GAME!!!

Could someone please help me?
I am very new to modthesims and need help. Thank You to anyone who helps.

NVM. I figured it out. Now all I need is help with the bedfix- do I really need it?
And for the Same Sex Pregnancy and the Tenn Woohoo+Marriage package-
do they clash?

SuicideCrash, as clakell realized, .package files for TS3 do not go in the Documents folder. Please read the Mac sections in this helpful wiki article on installing .package files: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Sims_3:Installing_Package_Files

it's probably just that they're in the wrong place. so just use this http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=349349

and all should be well
