View Full Version : Pregnancy Outside of Marriage?

I've been wondering about this for a while now, but I haven't played (cheated around) enough to see if this is true or not. My impression is that it's very VERY difficult to make a female Sim pregnant (try for a baby) while they're married to someone else. I've tried to do this a couple of times, but never once have I gotten the little chime to tell me that a baby's been concieved. And, I'm thinking it's either very low odds (for some lame reason), or impossible (just because it's hardwired that way).
Anyone know which it is? If it's just a low chance, then I guess I'll try again. But, if it's impossible, I'll think about looking at ways to make it at least possible. I really don't like these hard rules, especially when they don't make a lot of sense...

I've never had this problem, but maybe its just the probability of your current sim, just keep trying, I am sure it will happen!!

I had a sim for my Family Man challenge who almost exclusively targeted older, married women at the start. I had no problems at all. Check and make sure that the woman you're trying to impregnate isn't too old or married, otherwise you should be able to get her pregnant.

Whenever I have pregnancies outside of marriage, the child doesn't have any relation to the father! It comes out basically a clone of the mother, and on the family tree shows no relation to the dad. Very annoying.

None of my sims have ever had a problem reproducing. Although my main characters are always male, they ALWAYS seem to be fertile. I think they've failed maybe 3 times out of 50 or 60 attempts in Sims 3.

Not true. On the in game main menu, in the first tab, click the family tree button, and you SHOULD see the Sims children. I've only had one Sim get married right off the bat (Within a day - Big victory for me!) and everyone else was having kids outside of marriage. Even married women were having my sims kids. Oddly enough, they were still married after she had 3 kids. :/

I've had no problem getting sims pregnant through affairs. I actually had a really hard time getting unmarried sims pregnant in TS2, but no problem whatsoever in TS3.

Oh, thanks for all the replies! I haven't been playing around all that much just now, but you certainly give me hope for my future forays. :) I do remember the female I was targeting was only a couple days away from elder, so probably that was working against me. I'm going to try again. :)

Yeah i've never had this problem either. I mean one of the generations in my main family had 5 kids, none to her husband :) so its definitely possible :D .

My sim has impregnated every married sim in town. I usually have to switch to the married family to do it as I've found seducing married women harder in game than in RL.
