I know it's possible, as seen here (http://simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_Hiding.htm) I'm asking HOW did they do that?? I previously only knew that hiders were only for clothing, hair, and makeup. I've opened one of the files, and I saw a large list of things in the resource tree, just like what you would see if you cloned something. Which is different from clothing, hair, or makeup which is made up of a property set for clothing and hair, and XMOL (I think) for makeup.

Here`s how *I* would go about trying it: Open the OBJD file, copy it out into your hider package, and edit the catalog placement to not appear anywhere.

that's a good idea, I might try that, thanks!

This is what you do for those interested:

Find the OBJD file in your objects package (the one in C:/Program Files/EA games, e.c.t.)

then you should extract it. Go to file, close, then new, and add the OBJD file

click on raw data, make sure decimal is selected, and go through and change all of the numbers (except for the top 1 or sometimes 2 that says read only) to zero. Ignore the False areas you don't need to mess with that.

hit commit, file: save as to your downloads folder with the name of what you want to hide.

All you have to do is go to the Catalog sort tab in the OBJD and untick all catalog options. This will make it not show in catalog.

Yer welcome!

Yep. You`re both right. Extract the OBJD record into a hider package, and untick all catalog options in the hider package copy. No need for editing "Raw Data", really, but the rest of your procedure is spot-on. ;) You can even extract multiple OBJDs into a single hider package, if you wish. It`ll save disk space, and probably speed up loading times.

Well that's MUCH easier than the way I was doing it, lol. I spent 3 (fruitless?) hours trying to hide all base game paintings, by changing them all to zero.

Edit:

I've come to the conclusion that hiding them using the 0 out method is a lot safer than simply unticking the catalog sort, because there are some things in raw data that will remain even if it doesn't show up in the catalog, and it reacts badly with no instance to rely on (if that makes sense). The way to make clothing hiders, as well as makeup, or anything you have to set everything to zero, not just certain ones, or it will cause problems with the game. Also I've found that when using just the tick boxes method, it will place the object in the misc. misc category. However with the zero out method of doing it, it will help to have it totally gone, with no instance of anything leftover. I just say better to be safe than sorry, than to have something that will cause games to crash, or cause problems.
