View Full Version : Babies are born but without cribs?!

It makes me irrationally angry every time a family in town has a baby. Not that I don't like babies but, whenever I take my current sim to visit one of those families, there never is a crib for their newborn! Similarly with toddlers, there's no crib, high-chair, or potty.
Is this working as intended?! I would have thought that when a baby is born, at least, a crib would spawn in their homes.
I've only recently purchased TS3, so I'm just noticing these annoyances. That is to say, I apologize if this is an issue that has already been addressed numerous times.

The title of your post made me smile, because yes, babies are born without a crib. or diapers. Anyway, I think the reason those families don't spawn cribs or other baby related furnishings is because they don't really use them. When you're not playing them they just stand around in their house and their furnishings is not even rendered. Also, if they were to spawn them, then they would most probably placed really randomly and maybe block access for the sims when you're visiting that lot.

Thanks crocobaura. Of course, you're right. More trouble than it's worth, I suppose. It would make me even more irritated to find the crib in front of the stove or toilet.
But I have to say that it's no wonder there are dozens of unsupervised toddlers running all around central park. It's really a cry for emancipation. They're begging to be kidnapped by my ever-loving sims and taken into homes with cribs and potties. :D

This has bugged me as well. It also bugs me that base game only, a huge family of Sims can move in on top of another family even if their house is barely big enough for them. My daughter was playing when, I kid you not, a family of six moved in on top of a family of two living in a small two-bedroom house.
After I started using IndieStoneMod I noticed it even worse because that mod allowed for the Sims I wasn't playing to live a life, including having children. The Sims I was playing would visit one of their friends who lived in a tiny one-bedroom house yet have four kids. My Sim couldn't even get in the doorway to visit because of the toddlers in the way.
I knew one of the features Pescado had added to awesomemod was a cap on Sims moving into houses based on the amount of beds that had been placed. That got me to thinking about doing the same thing with cribs, in that unless there is a crib in a house a Sim couple can't have a child. I actually suggested this on the ISM forum and was nearly burnt at the stake because people understandably don't want to be bothered with putting cribs into all of their houses. Ironically enough, Pescado thought it a good enough idea to put it into his awesomestory mod. The way it works in awesomestory is that a family living in a tiny house with no crib won't have a child until they are able to move into a larger house that does have a crib. If they move into a house with a crib with no bed for the child, they will move into a house with a bed. In doing this they can actually displace families in those houses but in many cases that ends up being a good thing because they will displace elders and other families that no longer need the larger houses and then they'll relocate to smaller dwellings. In the end it's a lot of musical houses but by limiting the number of Sims in the house with a bed and crib cap, it also lets the player better manage the number of Sims in their town.
I can totally understand the frustration of people who don't want to be bothered to put cribs in the houses in their towns and for that I'm hoping Pescado will make the crib thing completely optional, but for people like me it will work a treat. As it is, all of the houses in my town are either built by me or downloaded. When I build a house I have an idea of how many Sims I want living there. If I download a house I always take a look at the inside after I've plopped it. If I decide it's big enough for more beds and/or cribs I add them then. If not, the house is left for a starter or retirement home.

What is it with that house anyway? That's where one of my Sim families was living with four kids until I moved them to something bigger.
