View Full Version : Storyline, EA Characters?

Hope I post this in the right location. This forum starts to grow pretty strict and confusing for me.

I play TS mainly for custom content and hardly ever bother to attempt the story line content offered by EA. I touched a little bit of those in TS2. But I don't want to just remove the entire EA town to create something just of my own. So I tried to keep the EA households untouched, until recently. I love Sunset Valley as a beach town (and dislike the boring farmland of River View). Unfortunately this map is so small, cluttered with not very good looking lots and boring NPCs, most of them. I have one 40x30 lot left, while MTS come out with great looking lots everyday.

So I am wondering ... how do we tell if a household just a typical one made by EA (no difference than made by us players) or some household with storyline like Goth family? I haven't even touched them, but I don't just delete them because one day I may try it (Yeah I have been obsessed with creating my own fantasy world).

Anyone know which households are safe to delete, and which households carry some storyline that is worth keeping. Or ... here is the big question: Would deleting the Goth family (or any big name family) be a loss? I know I have not gotten into the actual game content, but it does not mean I don't plan to. In fact I am starting to explore that aspect right now.

On the side note, Central Park has a BBQ contest 1 time that my sims can really BBQ. It was very fun. Now, if a replace that Central Park with a custom Central Park from MTS, would I lose the opportunity to have such community event? Same goes with a few other parks on the map. Are they hidden with some content, or they are just there for look?

Pre-Made storylines throughout All 3 Sims Games

Sunset Valley
Goth
Bachelor
Crumplebottom

Riverview
Broke- Skip Broke
Lothario- don
Newbie- Bob Junior is Robert's son who marries Betty Simovitch- they have daughter named Brandi who marries Skip Broke
Simovitch- Betty eventually becomes Betty Newbie

If any families named, Pleasant, Burb, Oldie or Buckingham, or Dreamer show up in EP's or randomly do not delete them either. They are the ancestors of TS1 and TS2's premades

So what is left for me to delete?

Oh, one time I put in a lot called Spanish Villa (downloaded from MTS). I liked the lot, but didn't decide to put any sim in. After a few saves while playing other families, I realized a couple of sims already moved in that Spanish Villa, certainly not created by me. I forgot the last name, but it is one elder married couple: A black man who is bald, and a pale skin woman who has long white hair. I wonder where they came from. But I am still refrained from deleting them.

Oh and, can we mess up the story line if we interact one of these core NPC to the extend like breaking up their marriage, marrying them off to someone else, etc...

None of the pre-made families are required by the game and when you select new game from the start screen instead of loading your save the pre-mades will always be there no matter if you deleted them before in a different save game. Because of Story Progression, anyone can be move into your town. Also pre-made families like the Goth's, Bachelor' and even the Newbie's don't always follow the exact story line you would expect. Of all the different neighborhoods I've started, Mortimer and Bella only married each other one time. Sometime they wed different people and other times they stayed single. So there is really no predetermined path for any of the families.

There's no reason to keep those families intact. Do whatever it is you want in whatever town you want to play, then if and when you decide you want to play the Goths, create a new default town and play them. You can have as many saved towns as you want.
