I don't have this game, but I was thinking about getting it. I was just wondering in what ways is this game better than 2? Is it just the graphics? Also, are there some things that are better in 2?

I'm obviously going to have to buy a new computer to even play it anyway so its not like Im getting it anytime soon. 1 GB Ram?! Geez, thats a lot.

Anyway, some of the things I wish were different about the sims 2 are the fact that its extremely difficult to get the townies to grow up without using a cheat or something, um I dont think theyre toddlers for long enough! I think theyre teenagers for way too long and not adults for long enough...um I think thats about it...are these things different in 3?

Lots different.
1)No more loading screens when going to community lots
2)Sims no longer have to buy clothes from a store you go to plan outfit in the dressers and pick them out up to 3 outfits per outfit.
3)Sims can change clothes by clicking on them.
4)Sims can have picnics on picnic towels
5)Sims can watch tv togeather on the sofa or bed and they can also talk about different things on the sofa and bed such as ask about day.
6)Sims can thank your sim for cooking and cleaning
7)The breakup option is available at any time by clicking on the mean interaction even for married sims.
8)Sims can confess to their boy/girlfriend husband/wife to cheating.
9)Sims can now sit on the sofa with their baby and even carry them on a community lot.
10)Sims can now feed their baby in a highchair and also when they give them milk they no longer have to go to the fridge.
11)Sims can confess to be pregnant to their spouse, lover and friends.
12)Sims can put some things in their inventory and carry it with them.
13)Most items and clothes can be customised with create a style and even hair and makeup.
14)Sims can ask another sim to breakup with his or her boy/girlfriend husband/wife.

Sure anytime that's just a partiel list they can do much more then that and the community lots like Stoney Falls are beautiful. If you have great speakers the waterfall sounds awesome and sims can have weddings on most lots.I've married sims at Stoney Falls,The Beach and the Park. The fountain in the park is a great place to marry sims in front of.

Heh, I interpreted that as 1 gig being a lot of memory. Either way, it isn't.

When you get a pc get one with 8gb's of ram or above and 64bit so it can use that memory.I have one like that and the game so far hasn't crashed and rarely lags.Make sure you get one with a great videocard and a quad processor. You want a great videocard so you can play the game with high graphics. On low they don't look good.Their ok on medium but their beautiful on high.

Thanks guys...yeah um I didnt know you could just buy memory for your computer...and it is kinda a lot. My computer has 256 MB and its not that old.

wow!! 256mb is pitiful.
my pc that i used b4 my laptop is over 10 years old and has 768mb ram.
1gb aint much.

but as for sharklover, not everyone has $2000 dollars. 8gb ram and quad core are not necessary. my 3gb ram, 2.8 dual core, 512mb video card plays the game just fine on high graphics. i just cant really have anything running in the background.

I'm running on SP 3 with 2,5 dual core , 3,5gb ram and 512mb video card with no problems.

My opinion , Sims 3 is alot better than Sims 2. Of course the base game doesn't have too much stuff , but wait for EPs!

To Sharkloverplayer's list can be added:

15. Some careers have 2 branches [ i.e: Police Career - Super Spy or Forensic Detective.
16. Lots of things to collect: Special/Rare/Common/Uncommon Seeds, Butterflies, Bugs, Rocks, Gems.
17. Traits! You can choose 5 for your sim.
18. More&Better Lifetime Rewards.
19. Lifetime Wishes are given by the chosen traits.
20. More and more and you'll see when you'll try it yourself :Pint: .

My pc isn't all that great, I have a 2.21 GHz AMD athlon, 2GB RAM and a Nvidia GEForce 8500 GT 512 card and I can play with most of them on high. I think I have tree detail on medium and other lots are low detail unless I am on them but the game runs great and still looks gorgeous.

The game is great but you have to forget a lot of what you had in sims 2, once you get past that it is fun.

256 really IS pitiful. You shouldn't even be able to play TS2 on that. Anyways, one gig is plenty to play on medium. Looks fine, not awsome, but good enough.

I don't know where you've been shopping for memory, but I do believe the price is about $50-75 per GB for memory.

That's the standard price for any kind of memory stick-for any computer. The older the computer, the more expensive because in some cases, they've cut back on making the memory-and it's dependent on what kind of slots you have in your machine.

I did play Sims 2 on 256, but with the settings on low or off completely. It's possible if you're not into the graphics stuff. Once you upgrade, it does make a real difference in gameplay and graphics.

Geez...I didnt know it was THAT pitiful. My pc is probably like 5 years old so I dont know what thats all about but anyway thanks for the great advice guys because, obviously, I was clueless.

Anyways the game, how is the aging thing? Is it the same as 2 or did they change it? I don't think they should have "age transformations" I think they should just age, and they get old way too fast. And you can hardly do anything with them when theyre teenagers, but I heard that's different. Like the teens can get married and stuff now right?

Also, I think the "collecting" thing sounds a little lame...why would I wanna collect stuff?

Oh yeah it is pretty rough playing 2 on my comp. Its super slow and all that good stuff. I can't have anything runnning in the background, and it's still slow.

There is alot more to minimum specs than memory. If your computer came with only 256mb of ram, then you probably dont have a supported video card or CPU. Check it out before you waste your money.

A quad is over kill for TS3. Waste of money if that's all you're using it for

Just for future reference you can buy a quad with 8 gigs of memory on QVC for under $800

Lockinating. I would like to simply nudge this thread back on topic, but we already have many threads in the forums comparing the two games. And a prominent sticky for opinions/reviews of TS3 alone.
