Hello, I've been trying to clone the double colonial window since yesterday, but I always end up with a black clone that's non castable (CAST freezes when I try). After many attempts, I tried to clone another 2 tile window, and ended up with a salmon pink one, this time, but still un-castable -___-.
I do have the latest version (and I cloned a one tile window before that and other objects without having this problem). I also clone them normally, with the default settings for a normal clone.
I haven't tried any other windows yet... I Probably will after posting this.

Here is a pict of the results in game (this is just after cloning, I didn't alter them further in any way) :

:wtf:...weird

This is interesting.
I tried it, cloning the same 2 windows, and got exactly the same result.
The cunningham window got some high reflectivity and no detail, the other pitch black.
Using cast on them makes the game freeze.
I put them in the game right after cloning (latest version here too), didn't touch the packages in any way.
(Oh and their 3D preview image is missing.)

Edit to add, the 2x1 mission window does the same.

In order to help track this down, please can one of you clone the same two windows with "renumber" unticked? See if that works out better (it will of course be an override temporarily)

It seems to work if I do that (shows up good in the game and is recolorable), but the Cloner crashed while saving, both times. So I could only test the cunningham window (that got saved to a file) and not the colonial window (no file).

edit
Tried again and got the colonial to save, before the crash could eat it.

Sorry, I was gone for a few hours, so I couldn't check that part. Thank you Lemon ^^. I'm going to try it too, even if it's already done, and report back anyway.

Edit : Well, when cloned without renumbering, the window overrode the game one, it was recolorable. I didn't have any problem with the cloner on my side.
I went ahead and cloned ALL the game windows, and this is the result, in the pict, only the windows on the back and front rows are fine, the rest is either black or another color, and non recolorable. There was one weird thumbnail (a casement window seen from the other side...) but on a window that was ok otherwise.
I'm not sure this helps, but anyway :p
I didn't clone the separate diagonals for the 3 tiles windows.

Oh, Inge, you make me almost sorry I stumbled upon that and caused more trouble :P

Does this affect anything other than windows?

Well, I didn't encounter it anywhere else yet, but I've only cloned a handfull of objects, and nothing else from build mode. I'll try more build mode tomorrow, but it's past midnight here, so if someone on a more awake time zone wants to try now, be my guest ^^.

I am unhappy to report further pitch-black results on the doors (all the full doors, a third or so of the arches, and not the garage door) : :(

Do you want me to go on to the columns for example, Inge ? I've not encountered the problem on buy objects so far, and there seems to have been no complaints from other people for them and considering the amount of experimenting, there would have been, if there was a problem. So my guess is that this could be affecting the build mode only. In wonder if Huge Lunatic used an older cloner version for her windows... OR she lucked on one of the non-affected ones... :wtf:

... Maybe we should enlist help and test all the objects ... ?

I'd like to know what was the last cloner version that didn't have this problem?

I have no idea myself, having just started on windows. I pm-ed someone who did make some to ask for info ^^.

I haven't touched windows since my latest upload of the colonials, September 23.

If I had to guess I would say either 0909-13-1134 or 0909-19-1830 for version used. Not super positive but if I'm in the middle of a project I won't switch versions. Based on the release date of 9-13 I *may* have used that one.

Thank you ^^.
You didn't happen to use one of the windows that turn out fine, as a base clone (just to be sure) ? They're up there in the pict.

Nope. Whatever windows I have made so far I've used the games version of it for my clone, so I could maintain default colors without me fiddling in the package.

According to my tests, it was ok in the Sept 19th release, but wrong by the Oct 11th release. Does everyone agree?

I think I can safely say yes. I made a working door with the Sept version (it was uploaded 10th Oct).

Update on progress: Peter has tracked down the exact revision where the error began (it's in the library itself so could affect s3pe too) and is currently trying to work out *why* the revision broke it so he can do it differently.

The problem has been isolated, and it is due to a broken fix put into the OBJD wrapper. That is being backed out, at library level, and a new version of the tools should be uploaded some time today.

Should now be well and truly fixed. Finally. I think. (With the broken "fix" re-implemented in non-broken form.)
