Aye. I'm currently writing the review for it and it is killing me... even with four pages available.
Fantastic game... a real throw back to the Bioware of old. This Baldur's Gate reborn and I love it.
Everybody dance now...

LOVE this game. The character creation, the skins, the graphics, the humour... VERY much like the old golden age of D&D games.

I've been playing since it came out and am really enjoying it. The voice acting and dialog is really well done. Love Alistair and Morrigan. Going to have to play through with different party configs to hear all the companion chatter.
Has anyone got the dex hotfix? I'm wondering how much harder it will make the enemy archers. I want it because I've started an archer of my own and it would make them more viable, but what good is that if they are mowed down by other archers? So I'm torn.

... correction. I did love this game. Till I got to the "trapped in the fade" bit which sucks. A lot. And is pointless and stupid except for a few stat boosts that they throw you like scraps. "Hey, you have to go through all this stupid crap with no gold/loot drops, that takes hours and doesn't advance the story any. THEN you have to do it again to actually finish it and get out!"
MEH.

I giggled, a lot, when I read this and then looked at your avatar :D
I've got to say, though, from the pictures it looks like a very detailed game, and from some of the comments above, it seems your liking it :)
However, just a little out of my gaming range, unfortunately.

I love this game. I agree the fade/dreamworld thing sucked. My favorite character is Alistair by far

I didn't mind the fade part when you're getting the mages/templars, I actually rather enjoyed it, wish I got to keep those forms though :(

Mostly good things have been written about Dragon Age: Origins. My only concern is that they also say that it is very difficult without a mage in your party. I have to wait and see more info on DA:O though, I'm playing The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and I'm at the end of chapter 2.

It really isn't that much harder without a mage, you probably should have at least 1 ranged person if you aren't going to use a mage. My party consists solely of 3 mages and a rogue, it can be pretty tough with that setup(mainly when you get ambushed or there's those stupid dialogue cutscenes that bring your whole party to you even if you left them 50ft away which is quite annoying)

My boyfriend is really trying to get me to try it, but from looking at the stuff he's done i know that when i do ill be too hooked to play anything else >.<
It looks really awesome and so far i have heard nothing but good about it.
He plays it on the PC tho, im thinking to maybe get it on PS3 instead, any thoughts?

Get it on PC.
The console versions are watered down ports.
The console versions are more hackey and slashy due to their lack of an overhead view. The PC game is more strategic, better looking and a better game.

I'm thinking about buying this. Looks pretty good in my opinion, I only wish I could find a demo :(

Ooo I love Dragon Age: Origins!
I guess I'm the only one here who loved the Fade. I want to go back into it with different characters and see what their little fantasy thing is.
I've been playing lots of DA while waiting for EA to fix World Adventures. Not too far in the game, I like running around and talking to my party lots.

SQUEEE!
I love this game! On top of its general awesomeness, Alistair is my most favorite video game boyfriend in the world!
Mmmm.... wet frocks.

Has anyone had any issues with memory leak and this game? It appears a lot of people on other forums, who have played this game, report memory leak. Although, it could be many factors.
Edit: Anyone here playing this game on an ATI HD graphics card? Specifically anything from the 5000 series?

Amish you lucky dog, this is one of the best games I've played. Lol my older brother likes to torture me with it. He usually lets me borrow it for a day at a time then he decides he wants it back :(
Who knows maybe I'll get it for Christmas and I won't have to go through this suffering anymore....

I've had no memory leaks myself but I too have heard complaints from others.
Thanks ElPresidente :)
I got it on PC and I have had no memory leaks so far atleast. But by experience I have had nothing but trouble with my ATI card before with other games. So i have switched over now!

I have it, and I'm obsessed with it. Seriously. It's not healthy. I can play it for several hours straight and literally have to pull myself away from it so I can sleep or eat. It's an awesome game. I like it even more than Mass Effect, the last Bioware game I played. Although that doesn't stop me from looking forward to Mass Effect 2...
Oh, I play it on my computer by the way. The graphics look so much better on a PC than on a console...if you have a decent video card that is.
I haven't had any problems with memory leaks although at the moment there is something wrong with specializations in my game...Also, I have an ATI Radeon 3850 HD video card, and it displays the game beautifully.
The Fade was annoying at first but then I grew to like it. It doesn't bother me. Alistair is one of my favorite characters as well, along with Oghren. Oghren makes me laugh so hard.

What is the specialisation problem you are experiencing?
Is it that you have specialisation points but can't select any of the specialisations?
If so that is because you need to unlock the specialisation first. You do this by completing certain quests in certain manners, finding certain items like books or from incidental NPCs throughout the game.
Once you've unlocked the specialisation you don't need to unlock it again in subsequent replays.
Oh and dagger users, the latest patch has fixed dagger damage so it scales with Dex and Str not just Str as it was on release. The current set up was how it was always intended to be but was broken on release.

My boyfriend was having memory leaks... and he actually had to underclock some stuff to make his game run.. works fine now. I had no problems on my laptop..and right now I am making a new comptuer.. the case will be here in a few days... so I'll see how it runs on it (AMD 3.0 quadcore/ddr2/1333mhzsupported - Raedon 5750 @ 1 gig - 4 gigs of RAM)
Anyways I LOVE this game, I'm at the last part where you have to fight the legion/dragon stuff.. haven't played it in a few weeks due to college.. but I was obsessed and didn't leave my computer for days after getting it. I have to second the game being SO HARD without a mage.. whenever my mage accidentally dies off I get wiped... I cannot live without my blizzard/freeze spells... crowd control is so so so helpful!!
Also at the end Morrigana makes me really mad... stupid girl.... if you've beaten it you know why lol.

My specialization problem has resolved itself out of the blue. I think it had something to do with saving and/or being logged into the Dragon Age site. But yeah, I had unlocked the specializations. It just wasn't letting me apply them to the characters for some reason. But now it's working so yay.
The only problem so far I've had with my game lagging is at the end fighting the Archdemon. I've had to turn down all my settings just so I can play the end.
Pandacharm, I've managed to play the game with a Warrior main character, but I agree the game is difficult without a mage! That is why I was also very mad at Morrigan at the end. lol. My next play through I am definitely making a Mage character!

It may have also been that you had no specialisation points. You get one at level 7 and one at 14. Other party characters just get the one as they all start with a specialisation of their own.

Except for Sten who doesn't come with a specialisation it seems, and ends up just getting one at 14. :)

Sten can have specialization at level 7 if you saves him when all your characters are at level 5 or lower.
I simply love the storyline and the dialogues between them. However it makes me miss the Elder's Scroll' style or Gothic combat style. I still don't like the point-click combat style. However, having some planning before heading into a fight always helps.

Hex based combat FTW!
Shame it has fallen out of favour.
Then again... it may not be an RPG but Civilization V is bringin' back the hex.
