Deep Freeze?

When I installed my TS2 and TS2 University on one of my computers which is deep freezed, the application won't work. It would keep saying that "there was a problem during the installation. please re-install" :alarm:

I have no idea what you mean by "deep freeze".

By deep freezed, it meant that any datas installed in the "deep freezed" drive would disappear once you turn off the computer. Thing is, I installed the game in drive D (the deep freeze one is Drive C) and the My Documents is located in Drive E, so there shouldn't be any reason for the game to not work (because the application works before I turn off the computer, but once I do, the program crashed)

Well, yes, the game requires its registry entries to work, which are always installed to C. So if you nuke the registry entries when you reboot, then the game won't work.

By registry entry, do you mean the EA Games folder that's in My Documents?

No. Windows OSes use a registry to tell the operating system, among other things, what programs are installed. The registry files themselves are stored somewhere in C:/WINDOWS, I don't know exactly where; usually they're only edited automatically by applications, or by hand through the regedit feature.

Without the registry entries, Windows doesn't know the program is installed - it doesn't know what it is, or where it is, or even that it exists. Some programs, portable apps, don't need registry entries; but every serious game I've ever seen does, and all the Sims games certainly do.

You'll have to unfreeze the drive, install the game and any EPs, then refreeze the drive in its modified state.

Unfortunately, I'm not a computer expert so I can't un-deep freeze a computer then re deep freeze it again. Is there any other way to make the EPs work?

No. If you're not the person who set up the deep freeze, you'll have to get the person who did to do sort it out for you.
