I have created a basement with external access and connecting stairs running down to a double door:

I can place both stairs and doors in Build Mode with no problems. The fault occurs after the door is used for the first time and it becomes stuck open. The door then cannot be deleted ('cannot delete object in use') without the moveobject cheat.

The same happens with any double door style.

Is there a way of debugging the door and has any one else done this succesfully?

I can delete the stairs and all is fine, the Sims will walk up the slope that remains, but I WANT the stairs going down to the door! Help!

I have had that problem and have tried every thing and if the square for the top or bottom landing of the stairs and door are in the same square it keeps happening. What I do is inset the doors one square back from the stair landing I would like to find a way to fix this as well.

Damn, I wish I'd known about this glitch before spending hours designing the house!

Oh well, I'll know next time. Looks like I'll be removing the bottom set of stairs and having a slope.

have you tried with a sliding door or a simple doorframe?

Don't sweat it - I get that problem on my single story, no frills, no fancy tricks kind of residential lots - the doors (in particular) the double swankier doors remain open...... :(

Cheers,
nina

P.S. - may I ask how you tiled over the ground up alongside and around your doorway? I have a similar construction happening at the moment, and the plain ground cover doesn't look so good after some warpage lol

Wrap a fence around it (to define a border) and then shift-click the floor to fill.

but the sloped parts of the terrain wouldn't be covered then....perhaps you have to do that whilst you have the boolprop floorelevation cheat on?

no, shift-clicking the floor does fill slopes too. you just have to click on a flat section (otherwise the square you click on will flatten). and fences can go on slopes (unlike walls, without cheats) so they won't flatten your hills.

That easy eh - sounds too good to be true lol Yep I knew about the fences/higher fence walls types being able to be placed on slopes....but not the tiles - thanks uecasm, for that pointer :)
