View Full Version : Princess Diana

OMG, this lady is one hard lady to get. Don't ask me to pinch her eyes together at the outer corners, it can't be done. I have twisted her eyes this way and that way and this is the best I can get, going for a more innocent look than a slightly smiley look.
Is she good enough to go on with and upload?

Oh gosh, she is a hard one to choose to sim. At the moment, she's going to need some tweaking, because the sim looks rather hard and masculine and almost sort of like a dude, whereas Diana was a very feminine and dainty lady. For a start, she needs a more refined nose - Diana's nose was a bit beaky but small and feminine - also more feminine eyebrows, and although your particular reference photos don't really show it, she had large, doe-like eyes that were very pretty. Your reference photos are of all different ages, so you need to choose which age to depict her as. Cheeks need to have a rounder, fuller look, especially if you're going for a younger Diana, and cheekbones need to be prominent. Looking forward to seeing how she develops!
EDIT: Here's a few pix a Google search turned up - I found it actually hard to find good photos of her, which is a surprise, but these are how I remember her. I hope they help! The first three are younger pix and the last one is shortly before she passed on:

THanks for the detailed feedback, Es. I will work on that.

Here is next attempt. I know she has a long way to go and I'm not sure if I'll get there. Where did you source those pics as I want to use them but they are in bmp format and are altogether? The most photograped woman in the world and not a decent full on face of her.

That's strange, it's a .jpg - maybe whichever browser you use wants to convert it to .bmp in order to download it? Here's a copy - just unzip it and you can separate it into 4 different pics with a photo editor.

Wow, I see Diana is generating lots of interest or is she just too far from the real thing to comment on? Help, I need feedback.

She looks a little too old imo. Maybe a little less nasolabial crease? And her cheekbones look a little too defined, which makes her look too gaunt. But maybe that's just the blusher. Her jaw's also too hard and square. Make it softer.
The problem I can see here is that all the pictures of her are so old that they're pretty poor quality, seeing as most of them had to be scanned into a computer.

Thanks Zinthos, I think this is one of those sims which is not going to see the light of day due to lack of good source pictures and I despair of ever getting her eyes right.

I think her eyes are too open. They need to be a bit squintier.
I think the space between her top lip and nose needs to be shorter (bring her lips up a bit)
Then bring her jaw and chin up a bit.
Also maybe bring the jaw shape slightly to the right so it's rounder and the chin is a little bit pointier and less square. Only a little though.
Maybe a little less definition on the nose? The lighting down it is too harsh and straight... if that makes sense.
Perhaps bring the eye socket right down.
That's all I can think of for now, she's a hard one. :)
Edit: Re the eyes, maybe take the Eye Shape slider to the left a bit, then lower the upper lid slightly. Eyes are hard, I usually play around with them for ages because tweaking one slider will change what the other sliders do. It's a pain but it's awesome when you finally get it right. I just wish you could save your actual EYES to cas. That'd be awesome.

Thanks BasTyra, you have given me a lot to work on. (:
I think we need to remember that most of the pictures that were taken of her downplayed her nose with lots of lighting when in reality it was a bit of a a konk, so rather than making her nose less defined, I want to make it more real.
I agree about the mouth to nose ratio and the eye-socket height and the chin.
I am not sure what to do with her eyes, because if you look at the pic which Es put up on the far right, she is looking all large and doe-eyed and in most of the others she is smiling, but she has that droopy look on the one eye which is slightly dissimilar to the other eye.
Yes, she is a hard one. I will have one more go and then maybe I will find someone who is a little easier to sim.

Yeah I hear you on the eyes. I hate when you are trying to make a celeb sim and their eyes are different in every single reference photo :D
Good luck :)
