View Full Version : Mini Island In Progress

This is a world very loosely based on the tiny island height map. I added a mountain with a crater-like gap in it, extended a beach or two, and made it my own. It is not really anything fancy, but it's going to have lots of modern/expensive lots. It's an expensive place to live. There's no fancy story to it, no extensive landscaping/special purpose to it...just an island for your sims to live on. A close-knit community. Full of rich people.

The graveyard is the area inside the mountain, next to Simhenge. Spawners are plentiful(especially near simhenge) and I think the place looks pretty nice, despite its simplicity.

It's very small- only 55 lots, I believe, but it has tons of space despite that. I've already placed rabbit holes- all but the military one- and many are multiple-on-one-lot. The theater, grocery store, and book shop are one lot. The corporate towers and bistro are one lot. The school, hospital, city hall, science center, warehouse, stadium, and spa are all their own lots.

There are lots of cliffside homes- one special home WAY up on a cliff, a few just next to the cliffs, and one which extends up and over a cliff, allowing for a deck. I'll be adding homes soon, building them myself.

Any interest in this?

These images are a bit inaccurate, some rabbit holes are in the wrong places, and the foundation with a rabbit hole on it didnt work out- they fade out randomly when on a foundation, it seems.

I've had this problem in my world too, when I first load the town from map view the rabbit holes aren't there, but when I've zoomed in, they reappear and stay there until I reload the hood. I've tested the few I've put on a foundation (hospital, science lab and town hall) and they still work. Just out of curiosity, do you have WA? Because I only noticed this happening since I installed that.

The world looks lovely, btw.

Yeah, I do have WA. I opted to just make a cliff there instead of a deck, whatever.

It's a simple world but once I add a few lots and maybe some sims I'll probably upload it. I didnt spend weeks on it and I didnt have much planned for it, but it's small and very pretty at different times of hte day(sunset is visible at the main beach, and sunrise is visible from the back of the sland, where the cliff house lot is located).

I tried as hard as possible to make most lots have at least one area where they line up directly with the sidewalk(so there can be a path without a gap), but with the roads it was pretty hard.

Each rabbit hole is "done"...I'm not the best house builder when I'm not building for myself/a specific sim, so I'm only really proud of the school.

Its a great start and this problem might be sorted out when you add more houses but some of the community lots look oddly placed e.g town hall should probably be in the centre.

Have you playtested the houses that are right next to the mountain? Some people play from the backside (looking towards the street), and it can be very annoying when the camera keeps jumping around because the hillside is too close and moves it upwards.

They all seem fine because of the smaller cliff behind them. Unless you go WAY back nothing happens.

That said I am kinda totally losing interest- any and all lots I try to place from the bin sink down into the ground, because the stupid lot placement system looks at the CENTER of the lot- since the center is lower/higher than the street, it sinks in. For EVERY. LOT. Plus after placing about 8 lots that I could fiddle with to make work, the editor crashed when I opened the pool tool. Work lost.

I really hate CAW. I wish some new worlds would just show up already.

I know what you mean. CAW can get VERY annoying. I'm having trouble with my roads disappearing after I place them.
