Now, initially the problem was that the vacation time ended, but the game didnt sent my sims home. I didnt worry too much as I could still send them home via phone.

I was in a vacation in France, saved and quit. Everything other than ^^ was fine. I go back into the game and the side panel with the sim heads is gone. The sims are still in France, and the one currently selected I can click on objects for them to do stuff with, but I cant click on the sim or choose "go here."

Like the missing sim faces on the side panel, the extender tab will not expand, so I cannot see things like needs.

I have already gone in and deleted all the caches. No help there.

Ive now noticed my Sims names have changed as well.

I have tried the testingcheatsenabled and make dynamic suggestion without help

Have you attempted to go into "Edit Town" and see if they are still your active family? From what you describe, they aren't. Perhaps try to make them your active family again.

Do you still have a valid backup of your saved game? You may have to revert to that If nothing else, make a copy of the game backup now and save it to your desktop or other place of your choosing, as a last resort.

When I go to edit town, the bar at the top says "return to game setup" rather than return to game

I apologize for not having a definitive answer for this, but it's rather difficult to address the situation without really seeing it.

Again, the "Return to game setup" suggests to me, you have no active family. If you cannot choose/select your original family from the Edit Town menu, I would attempt the following:

- choose a family, any family to make active
- pick one person from that family to go to france
- have that person find your original family
- using testingcheats you can add them to the active sims family
- Once you have one or all the original family, return to the base world
- move out the original family members and make them active

At this point you will need to do some checking to see what has changed, if you only have one of the original family, you will need to collect the others, etc. If you find to much has gone wrong, you may want to revert to the backup/saved game mentioned earlier.

Known bug introduced in 1.8(? or earlier?) - happens upon reaching WA destination or returning home.
Symptoms are missing Sims (the traveler or the ones at home might be gone), broken family tree and messed up career panel all due to broken relationships when traveling.
Do you play with mods that fixes story progression?

If not, that's why it occurred. I know that AwesomeMod and Twallan's storyprogression mod fixes this.

I dont play with any mods that mess with story progression. Ill look into the mods you suggested, thanks

EDIT: I got the Story Progression Mod - do you know what in it can help fix?

@werismyki: I couldnt even choose another family to make active. Seems everyone in France disappeared

I`m trying this story progression mod also, but, i find nothing new on the town`s pc`s.. Maybe it won`t work with the newest patch or norwegian language.. hmm, i guess i`ll have to try the beta version? I think i installed it right, in the hels package folder.

Yah, it seems my game is stuck in edit town mode, and I cant get back to my sims.

If you have the family in the library, try to edit France to move the family into a house. Maybe you can choose to go home then,
through the phone, so you get back to your game.
