View Full Version : How to get pictures

I'm not sure this is the right forum...but here goes--
I've been wanting to share pictures of my Sims. I know to click the camera button, and how to look at it in the family journal.
But here's my problem--I want to upload them, and when I look in my folder through Documents (I have Vista), I see only one picture file--the latest picture I took, labeled snapshot.bmp. Seems every time I take another picture, it replaces the last one, yet I can access all my pictures through my Family Journal!

Which folder are you looking in? go to Documents/EAGames/Sims2/Storytelling and all the pics should be in there. I have vista as well and thats where I find mine, Sometimes they can also be in neighbourhoods/storytelling so check there too. Also you should try a programme such as fraps where you just use the print screen key to take pics as you get better quality and they save in the frapes file folder which makes it even easier to find! And its free as well!

I checked them. The only picture I find is labeled snapshot.bmp. And it's always the latest one.
I have considered Print Screen.

Go to EA Games/Sims 2/Neighborhood/Neighborhood File (N001, E001 etc-custom hoods will be N004 and up)/Storytelling - any pictures you take will be in these files.
However; a lot of storytellers don't use the in-game camera at all. They use a screenshot program such as; FRAPS, or Gadwin to take pictures in game, then they edit to pictures to trim the pause frames, and the little icons showing what the Sim or Sims are doing at the time from the picture in a program like GIMP or Photoshop. I personally use FRAPS, it is free and really easy to use. Just google and you should find a download link for it.
I would actually suggest a screenshot program, it takes better quality pics than even the highest/largest in-game camera settings, you get better lighting (especially if you are using Gunmods Radiance Lighting) and better overall quality.

If you use Fraps - make sure you change the capture key. Mine defaulted to F10, so everytime I tried to take a screenshot, the game's UCP would keep going on and off. So I switched mine to F9 - it isn't a shortcut key for anything in the game.
I mostly use the in-game camera, though - the 'c' button is so much closer to my fingertips than F9!

I looked in the Neighborhood files too (I know 001 is Pleasantview, etc.)
I'll go look again.
Meanwhile, I'm going to upload a really cute picture I took of Brandi's son Jesse playing with one of his brother Dustin's friends.
