I just finnished making my east indian familly one of many different themes i like to do.
For example with her, all the music she listens to is bollywood music, i managed to find her a Salwar Kameez(Long tunic with pants) Though it wasnt easy. Sims 2 has a pile of indian clothing but not sims 3.
And I decorate the house accordingly also. Makes things more interesting.

I played themed games too, in all sims games. I really love medieval neighborhoods, and LOTR neighborhoods. I also like games based on my favorite TV characters. I usually have an NCIS and CSI Miami neighborhood. I usually have a Brad and Angelina neighborhood. Oh, and also a Charmed and Buffy neighborhood. I go into great detail in creating the sims with the appropriate clothing and house decorating. But I don't know how to change the music. I bet your Bollywood themed 'hood is really pretty. Can you post some pictures?

Across all of my save files, I have one elf couple, an environmentally-conscious family that lives off of gardening, a couple of musically-inclined families, and a bunch of households containing Final Fantasy 7 characters.
Within my Final Fantasy 7 population, there are several themed households as well: the martial arts- and fitness-inclined household (Cloud and Tifa); the ultra-wealthy spy family (Elena and Tseng, who have a net worth of nearly one million Simoleons); the garden- and nature-themed household (Zack, Aeris, and her mother Elmyra); and the super-wealthy, world-traveling, knowledge-obsessed household (Shera and Cid Highwind). I also went with the generic East Asian theme for Yuffie Kisaragi's household, as their domain in FF7, Wutai, is "East Asian"-themed. I don't have an evil, brooding, silver-haired, Jenova-worshipping household (I don't particularly care for Sephiroth, Loz, Yazoo, and Kadaj fangirls and boys).I have entertained the idea, though, of creating the despicable Hojo as an evil mad scientist who is engaged in an epic war of the minds with the good mad scientist, Shera, and Vincent Valentine, who has a long-standing grudge against him.

I've never had a themed household, never found a drive or reason to create them. The only division I have in my game is black Sims and white Sims but they all mingle together, and none have a different culture. All my Sim's live the same way (northern European culture), which is why my town always has a church, where they marry and have their funerals. The only religions/political rules I have is that gay Sims can't marry in a church, this is not my political view, but the general view of the the church in general around the world, if any of my gay Sim's decide to fight for their rights then they can do so, but so far none have done it. Also pregnant Sims can't marry in the church, for the sinful life they have lived.
Sure my Sim's have different political views and lifestyles, for example my hippie girl wouldn't marry in a church, while some morally more strict family will find themselves visiting the church each Sunday. I do think one of my Sim's in Jewish, I brought her the Jewish candle thingy that you got from the store, and it suited her quite well, it didn't however change the way I played her.
The only theme I find myself interested in is medieval. But never enough to actually do it, because in the end I do like the modern world more, it gives you more diversity in game play.

I enjoy creating different ethnicities to populate my town with. My towns are usually a mix of white, black and Asian sims, with a few middle-eastern and Hispanic families thrown in. I don't play them any differently, though. In fact, most of my Sims don't really have a backstory, I just get to know them as I play them. :)
All of my sims are in their natural, secular form. It's never really occurred to me to make them religious. :D

I love themed sims. I tend to go for fantasy and thensubcatagories within that.
Right now I have 4 princess's (all from different cultures and universes of my own design) living in a crappy 2 bedroom house. My story is that they're all part of the princess protection program, having been in great peril in thier worlds of origin. Thier all working like level one or level two jobs and they're all pretty pissed about it lol.
I've also got a witch and fairy household, and a house of Knights and hero's (hey there's got to be someone for all those princess's, fairies and sorceress's to marry hasn't there?)
There's one story I'm making in the sims where the king of the town has fallen in love with a lovely gypsy girl and his mother's plotting to have her murdered =)

I love the idea of differently themed sims, cultural or otherwise. You should consider uploading them, as I personally can never get myself to create those. Then you can see how they fare in foreign places ;).
