OK I installed everything that every website said to download, I went step by step in every forum I could find on this. Still I cannot get passed the "Setting" - "Game Folder" section. I have selected "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin" and I get an error about missing packages. I do not know what to do, PLEASE walk me through it all step by step. I downloaded the Framework, I checked and saw the Thumbnails package there.

HELP PLEASE!!!!

Er...what is it exactly that you're trying to do? To use s3oc download the latest easy install version and run the exe. It will put itself where it needs to be.

Then open s3oc and click "Cloning" if you want to clone an EA object or "File/OpenPackage" if you're trying to open a different package.

You should choose a folder much higher up the chain. In your case, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3"

From The Sims 3 folder you need to choose your Mods folder instead of that Game folder...this will get you to all the packages you have installed in your game. But this isn't the way to clone an EA item in order to mesh if that's what you're trying to do.

This is the way to open another package that someone has uploaded...is that what you want to be doing?

The error your getting I think is from s3oc not being able to see the Thumbnail folder. You need to select the folder that Inge listed earlier in order for s3oc to see all files necessary.

Perhaps you know something I don't about what the OP is trying to do here...but if I go the the folder Inge posted I still end up with a lot of other folders to choose from...if I choose the Thumbnail folder nothing happens no matter which of the two subfolders within it I select so clearly that folder isn't necessary to meshing using this tool.

For basic use of s30c, which I gotta assume is what's wanted since there was no indication otherwise, you need to go to the folder Inge specified and from that folder choose the Mods folder which is where all the downloaded packages are.

If the OP isn't trying to use s3oc for a basic purpose that should be specified in the original post so people aren't wasting their time trying to help and so new people coming along afterwards aren't confused by special instructions they have no need or use for.

It is the error that the OP listed - Settings Game Folders. There is only one place and reason to set this in s3oc, the game files for s3oc to read. The game folder is the parent(root) one C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. S3oc will read child folders of that one, one them is the thumbnails folder.

I also had this error myself before. I was a bit ... overzealous? in my clearing of thumbs and caches. :P If they would have searched based on that error message they probably would have gotten my thread about it last year.

Lol...well...I still don't understand that. I just let the exe do its magic and click the s3oc's buttons. If it works for me I can pretty much guarantee it will work for anyone :P

Once you get that error can't you just reload the s3oc using the easy install exe and kinda start over?

The error should clear if the user selects the correct folder.

Can we assume this is resolved?

I wouldn't say "resolved." I'm having the same issue, too, and I tried all of the folders suggested in this thread. :-/ Should I just give up and reinstall s3oc?

Can you post again in the new support forum linked in the stickies? Thanks.
