Problem launching ambitions.

I've googled all day about this problem and searched these forums to no avail, so I'm hoping that somebody can help me out here because I'm being driven crazy!

I bought ambitions earlier and stupidly did the electronic download from the EA store (was too impatient to have to wait and go out to buy). I made sure my Sims 3 was updated to the most recent patch and then installed the game. When I click the play button in launcher nothing happens - launcher closes and that's that. I checked to see if it was running in processes and I did see it briefly then it disappeared without me doing anything.

I tried running it from the directory in documents (with both ambitions and TS3) but nothing happened either. So I manually uninstalled both games and reinstalled. I'm still having the same problem.

Sims 3 was working fine before (I don't run any custom things on there either). I even checked after I did the fresh install before I installed ambitions to make sure TS3 was working on its own. It's just when I install ambitions that I'm having this problem, and as you can imagine it's very frustrating!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Has graphic drivers been updated recently?

You cannot start the game even from the TS3EP02.exe directly, thus bypassing the Launcher? It CTD?
This: "I tried running it from the directory in documents" - do you mean the CC? Have you tried the crash FAQ?

When you uninstalled, you remembered to clean up registry and leftover folders?
