Simbot Opportunity

So one of my sims finally reached level 10 with the inventing skill and got the call to gather the materials for the simbot. It finally came down to the pink diamond. My sim couldn't find it, so i cleverly put a treasure chest on the lot, switched active households to one of my sims that was a level 10 martial artist, had him break spacerocks until a pink diamond appeared, took him over to the inventor's household and put the pink diamond in the treasure chest.
here's the problem. when i switched backed to the inventor's household, the opportunity was gone! I waited for the phone call again so he can redo the opportunity, but no luck. what can i do?

Wait until it reappears? Or you shouldn't of switched households

yeah you could have just went to franc and search around the first tomb, i think on the maze area there is a pink diamond.

Try using testingcheatsenabled true and generating opportunities at the science lab until you get the one you are looking for. Think step one is palladium.

Plus you can use NRaas's computer to choose opportunities and AwesomeMod's option to not nix opportunities when switching households. ARe we allowed to post links? If not, e-mail me and I will give them to you.

My sim reached lvl 10 inventing a sim week ago and still hasn't gotten the opportunity
I don't want to cheat but I don't know what to do
He has been working round the clock building inventions to get though the inventor career- should I give him some down time
Handiness is mastered and I have the scrap and widget benchmarks. he is currently lvl 9 in the career
my game is the retail AM, is this a bug and I need to patch?

Yes, you need to patch. But once again I would simply use NRaas's supercomputer to choose the opportunity for you. It's not cheating, its stopping EA from driving you insane. LOL

Im almost in the same situation, Invent is 10, handiness is 10 been like that for weeks, only now am I working on the skill challenges.
Do you have to complete a certain # of challenges for the opp to present itself. Im all patched as well and would prefer to ge the opp via the game

It happens at random. Meaning at random. Meaning it doesn't become more likely the longer you wait. Meaning you won't definitely get it. It's *random*.

It doesn't matter how long you waited. It doesn't matter how many weeks it has been. That doesn't make it any more likely than the day you maxed invention skill.

Well, technically, if it's random, then it will become less and less likely that you -won't- have gotten it as time goes on - but for any particular moment (or more accurately, every particular -whatever- interval it checks at), if it is random, you have an equal chance to the next check.
