View Full Version : Double Trouble with mesh

I've create a new mesh for a patio swing modeled based on a loveseat. For some reason, the sims want to use the left slot as if there are two slot spaces for sitting, and will sit on top of each other, but only in that slot.
I've checked the slot file and there are only TWO container slots. I've checked the Text File and there are only TWO slots referenced in the Model Bones. I've looked at the CRES and there are only TWO slots in the heirachey.
I'm at a lost on what could be the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Somewhere I've failed to look? Thanks.

I recently had that issue too, it's rather amusing to me. If you cloned a sofa without modifying anything it shouldn't do that. But it looks like you have 5 objd's, so you have added to the footprint? Pick two of those to reference the slots. My guess is, is that you have two referencing the same slot file.

THANKS HL! I used Echo's tut on increasing the footprint and just cloned the objd 0,1 twice, got the new GUID's, and changed the instance numbers, but the tut said nothing about handling slot references in the new footprint additions.
Current settings of objd (decimal):
objd / slots id
master 129
0,0 129
0,1 128
1,0 128
1,1 128
What should I change it to in order to stop them from using the same slot? I understand that the slot id must match the slot file instance number, but the two additional objd files I added to increase the footprint are just to prevent them from walking through the swings legs on their way to be seated (0,1 & 1,1).
0,0 and 1,0 were the original files before I added the two additionals and point to the slots correctly in the slot file.
EDIT: Setting 0,1 & 1,1 to zero causes an object error

Oh well, I gave up. I tried everything I could to get them to stop. I searched the net and it seems weird that this problem hasn't been addressed before with increasing footprints on love-seat type objects and correcting the objd slot id's to work correctly. I re-cloned a love-seat and dispensed with trying to increase the footprint. The clipping is a minor distraction and doesn't really cause a problem with object use. It was an aesthetic modification at best. Thanks HL for the heads up on where the problem originated. Caio!

Well glad you got it sorted! Sorry been off doing some other things. But if you had kept the values in the originals and just changed the newly cloned ones it should have worked.

Yeah but change them to what? I changed them both to zeros and got an object error in game on the swing every time one of the sims tried to sit in it. And since 128 is what was in both the clones when I was having the problem, then that wasn't right either. What numbers would be appropriate for future reference, if you don't mind. I'm still curious and frustrated with the whole mess. :D

Well it should be 0. The best place to look for something like for reference would be a bed. It's 2x3 tiles, and the sims enter the bed at only the head. So the other two tiles I would suspect would be 0. Sorry if I'm not clear. :/ Tired and sick still.

Well, this has just got me stumped! I've tried everything I can think of and still not acting right. It would have been great to fix the footprint on this bench swing, but it is obviously beyond my capabilities. :wtf:
