Im confused about uploading things like clothes from bodyshop. I have read that you have to put it on a sim and then have the put into a simpacage, but is there another way too do this?

No, do not put it on a sim. Do not make a simspack. That's how they do it on the Exchange, but MTS has a much better way that doesn't clutter our games with lots of silly unneeded sims. :)
In a nutshell, take your files from Saved Sims, rename it, compress it, zip it, upload that. Here's the details.
Make clothes with BodyShop, then import them into the game. You will have a new package file in EA Games/Sims2/Saved Sims. It will have a really stupid name with some garbage letters and numbers in front. Change this! For example, if you made an elder female (ef) shirt (top), and called it a "ruffled shirt", and it is red, then here's a good file name:
efTopRuffledShirt_red_ModernHoney_MTS.package
After renaming, compress your file(s) with jfade's Compressorizer (http://forum.jfade.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=170), so the file(s) don't eat people's disk space needlessly. Then zip or rar or 7zip your package file(s). There are instructions on MTS. Go to the Create menu, Creator Guidelines, and look for "How to rar or zip your custom content". While there, read the other creator guidelines too, all creators should be familiar with them. Now you can upload. There are instructions for uploading in Creator Guidelines.
Have fun creating!
