View Full Version : placing inground hot tub on upper floor

The house is designed so that the upstairs patio is over the living room. When I built it, I put in the inground hot tub and have played for days, not realizing that this left a huge hole in the living room, until my sim complained that there was weather in the house. Oops. :anime:

I tried to work around this by laying the stage foundation and placing the hot tub on it but it still left a huge hole in the ceiling.

Please tell me there is a work-around for this nonsense. I hate the way the huge above ground hot tub looks in this setting. I have searched but haven't found anything. Apologies if I have overlooked anything.

You could create a (2-click or more) dummy level between the lower and upper levels. Having floor tiles on the dummy level should ensure that the living room is weather-proof.

Thanks Mootilda... off to figure out how to create a dummy level. :)

Mike Inside (http://mikeinside.modthesims2.com/tutorials.html) has some good tutorials on creating dummy levels, although I don't think that there's anything specific to your problem.

Thanks again, Mootilda. That's just the tutorial I had found and was using. Unfortunately, a power surge through here killed my progress and I haven't gotten back to it yet so I can't say for certain if it will fix the problem but it seems like it will, once I get back to it. :)

I'm reasonably certain that it will fix the problem, as long as you have floor tiles on the dummy level. The only question is how tall the dummy level has to be to give you weather proofing on the lower level.
