View Full Version : Foundation Gamma

For the third foundation of this social group, I bring to you 'Foundation Gamma'.

This was built on a 20x30 lot. At this time, it's only for the Sims 3. I was going to build a Sims 2 version, but I was stupid and exited my Sims 3 game without saving or exporting the lot, so I had to go back and rebuild it. By the time that was done, I was fed up and irritated with rebuilding by photo so I decide to stop while I was ahead. Anyone is free to make a Sims 2 version if they wish or can.

Rules: They're fairly simple.

It must stay on a 20x30 lot, no upgrading the lot size.
There must be water somewhere. Create a pool or a pond or river somewhere. Don't just stick it in an obvious spot: be creative!

That's it!

LOL, I'm stupid. I named it Gamma because gamma's the third letter in the Greek alphabet and this was the third foundation, but it's not, it's the fourth. But, well, it is the third one made specifically for this group, so I'm just keep it this way.

That's fine lol
The two foundation bits in the back will be fun to come up with something for hehe

LOL, neither can I! I have no clue what to do with it and I'm the one who came up with it!

I got a nice house started with this foundation. It even has a tomb :) But the tomb and the rest of the house aren't finished.

Pics below

Well of course it is not done.... Im sure it will look alot better once it has some landscaping, some paint, and some windows.

oh sorry about the bad quality pics...

i used Flabaliki's Alder stairs (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=374276)
those are the stairs you see in the back of the house that glow.

I've still no clue where to begin with it.

I hid one of the little foundations in the back with flowers
Is that to much?

Greenlea
26th Aug 2010, 07:12 PM
I'd say you'll have to get LifesLover's viewpoint on that one as she's the one who posted the foundation.

That kind of gives me an idea though, not to cover it up but to try to make like flower boxes out of the foundations lol

Piet VanHoog is a young bachelor. Born in the Netherlands, he is now a Simerican citizen. His interior decor will prove to you how proud he is of his new status. Piet's place is situated on Lake Gamma, where he can happily follow his hobby - fixing up old boats.
Voila! Here is Piet's Place!

And a look from the side:
http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy75/gamine55annie/Foundation%20Gamma%20-%20Piets%20Place/PietsplaceSide.jpg
Piet's home is done up with worn cedar shake and white sidings, aged wood decks, all resting on a stone foundation.
The first or ground floor:

as well as a small office in the stair well. Outside is the lower deck with seating and skill-building. There is also a decorative landing for boats. The front lot end of the lake has a barbecue pit, table and a firepit.
The second floor:

and bathroom up here,

as well as a small laundry area. The upper deck features seating and a bar.
Behind the house is Piet's dry dock, where he repairs old boats. His current project is a gondola for the Venetian Casino.

And for a final shot - the upper deck
http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy75/gamine55annie/Foundation%20Gamma%20-%20Piets%20Place/th_PietsplaceUpperdeck.jpg (http://s779.photobucket.com/albums/yy75/gamine55annie/Foundation%20Gamma%20-%20Piets%20Place/?action=view&current=PietsplaceUpperdeck.jpg)
where Piet has just "kindly" informed me how unhappy he is that the firepoles on the dry dock are apparently not accessible to him. Okay, so the cfe height changes may be a problem  But that boy should know it's all just decorative anyway!
Some CC was used: the rowboat on lthe shore, the flying buttresses doubling as boat hooks, the Mr. Clean poster over the laundry (oops - no pic), at least one wallpaper, some plants, an OMP. Some store stuff was also used - the sitting group on the upper deck and the bedroom furniture. Oh, the backless corner shower is also CC from here.
Anyway enjoy!
Arrgh - I just noticed that I seem to be stuck on the name Pete/Piet! My next story helper should probably be called Repeat! :D

@Gamineannie
Thats a nice looking normal house.
Your house compared to mine is gonna look so normal while mine is gonna be all crazy and weird looking but in a good way. ;)
Congrats on being the first one to finish! :anime:
P.S. Im not saying normal in a bad way ur house looks awesome!

3mo co0ki3s!, I think your start looks good. I just did a "normal" house since all my recent work was a little off-the-wall. Usually I build huge rambling places and then run out of ideas what to do with all the room! But I'm looking forward to seeing you finished product.
Eveyone - see I CAN build normal-type dwellings! lol

lol thanks. I actually feel like I got alot done today with my house. Well, it only feels like I got alot done because i was playing all day. I didnt even work on the house all day, but I actually got something done. I still have to paint and furnish the inside, finish landscaping and furnish the rest of the rooms (i only furnished one room so far).

Excellent houses, 3mo co0ki3s! and Gamineannie. I love what you guys've done with the water rule. Yes, you can cover up the foundations at the back with bushes and such, there's no rule against it, but since this is supposed to test your creativity, I'd like to see what else you could do with it, if you feel up to it. Either way, you won't lose any points or whatever... wait, there are no points, so go to your heart's content!

I love them both and marked them as such. You both did a great job of making that odd-shaped foundation seem normal.
3mo_co0ki3s - I love the start you have made with all the open sections and the different roofs.
Gamineannie - I love the exterior - shape, textures, and colors with their weather-beaten look.
I'll get started on this one in a day or two (after I finish up foundation E).

I will try to add something more creative to the flowers in the back.

Thanks Ciane,
I was thinking of a modern house while adding the roofs and the open sections. But the paint on the outside of the house isnt going to be modern, its gonna look somewhat old with unfinished wood.

Lifeslover, can the foundation be lifted or anything? Just curious because I have the perfect lot for it but the ground is sloping. Just wanted to ask before I did it.

I added bamboo trees a cherry tree and mirrors for decoration.
And also some lights and a little garden fence thingy.

@heaven_sent_8_18: Yes, you can raise the foundation or whatever. So long as the foundation stays within its original shape and size and the lot is 20x30, you have free reign to do whatever you want to. And the water rule: that's gotta be in there.

@3mo co0ki3s!: That looks wonderful. Just be sure to keep the other one uncovered so that we can at least know that they do exist. I can't wait to see you come up with!

Ciane

I've got the shell done now. The rooms are divided. The furniture in the main room downstairs is in place. The foundations are covered (not covered up) and the back yard is filled in. I should get this finished tomorrow or the next day.

Slideshow pictures are smaller than those in the album, but can be paused by hovering over bottom right and clicking the box when it appears.

Larger pictures in the album can be viewed in sequence by simply clicking the next icon in the top right.

Instead of decorating in the traditional blue of a beach house, I used the colors of the stain glass cupboards in the kitchen - green, yellow, and reddish orange on a creme background.

Ciane
30th Aug 2010, 02:01 PM
Thanks for the nice comments. I tend to draw out a floor plan on paper first, generally making the parts that stick out most into a porch or patio. Yet, when I actually start putting up the walls, I'll get a different idea about something that works out even better. For instance, originally on this one, I had a small bath between the kitchen and living room and seperate main rooms. The idea to move that bath to what I had planned on being outside porch/patio opened up the area for counter dining and an open floor plan that worked out much better for the Sims.

It is great to see how one foundation becomes such unique residences. I do spend too much time decorating these homes though. I was tempted to do an unfurnished house, but then it wouldn't show it with the possibilities I envision (though your possibilities could make it more interesting for you).

Ughh...
I have to make a new house because the load time for build/buy mode is soooooo long. I was even thinking of uploading the completed house but i dont think users would like to wait over a minute to get into buy/build mode. Im thinking its because of all the plants im using. if i took them out it wouldnt look as cool so i think i should start fresh.

When you build like that it's always wise to limit yourself to the same types of flowers I think. Even if there is many of them then, it does not get that much of a strain to load.

LifesLover
9th Sep 2010, 05:18 AM
Hey, if it's gorgeous, I don't care how long it takes to load. Plus, if it's done well enough, I rarely have to enter build or buy mode.

Greenlea - absolutely gorgeous - love the colors, layout and snakeskin on the couch - mmmm!
3mo co0ki3s! - I really liked what you posted so far and am with LifesLover on loading times do NOT matter, when I like the look of a download. There have only been one or two downloads that were so prohibitively slow that I never went beyond the initial inspection tour. Never to use again. Most of the downloads are within what I consider normal time range for my borderline machine, but are well worth the time spent waiting. My own builds sometimes take a small eternity to get all the CC and reCAST parts loaded, that I am very tolerant of loadtimes. So, let's see your final product!

Well, it worked out absolutely nothing like what I was picturing as I had a moment of temporary insanity and forgot that diagonal pools are not possible in TS3. Damn you, EA. :D

But, I'm slowly getting something that resembles something less than hideous.

Edit: No one else has posted so I'll just add my pictures here.

I have built a modern one bedroom, 2 bathroom house perfect for a single person or couple with no children.

I noticed that. :|

I thought about making one but I've been really busy and also, not so good with creating unique foundations. I tend to be pretty "boxy" with a few pieces sticking out here and there to give it some interest. Nothing like what I've seen in this group.
