Please excuse me if I am not posting this in the correct place, but I am a newbie and can't find a more logical place to ask this question. First off, I was wanting to create a medieval world and I started wondering, Would it be possible to use like the flock of birds that fly through in sims3 worlds to create a flying dragon with? I really don't need any other action from it unless it could somehow be made to breathe fire at periodic points. Secondly, Is it possible under the same principal to use, say a bike, to create a rideable horse? I don't know if these could be done or not. Like I said I'm a newbie. I've been reading through some of the tutorials and I 'm not making sense of them since I don't even understand what a mesh is or most for the other lanuage used in them and I don't have any of the programs like 3d editors or photoshop, etc. so I'm really lost. So i guess my main question is can it even be done. then I guess I'll worry about the how-tos ect. next. thanks for any response or assistance anyone could offer.

Also wanted to add that I'm looking to make the dragon a large dragonheart type dragon not a small skinny asian style dragon. that's why I was thinking of using something like the flock of birds to start with.

Yes, it can be done, but would be a difficult project for a beginner. I am fairly new at meshing myself, and so far all I've been able to do is modify meshes, but not make an entirely new one. I started learning by sticking to recolors. Once you pick up how to recolor objects, then you move on to a very simple mesh. It will require many, many, many hours...and many failed meshes to learn the basics. If reading the tutorials here isn't helping you, I know there are plenty you can on YouTube. Good luck! And remember to keep it simple at first.

I think it would be possible to create a flying dragon...even one that breathes fire. But creating such a thing would require not only making the dragon mesh itself but modding the item in order to provide the appropriate effect (fire) and animation (wings flapping at the very least). Your issue wouldn't be size so much as adding the effect/animation. I second FR's opinion that this would be a tough item to make for someone even if they had meshing experience.

Similarly, a rideable horse made on a bike clone should also be possible. Esmerelda made a rideable dragon if memory serves me right. The issue again would be getting the animation to look right...if you weren't able to change it to match the appropriate action you would end up with a Sim on top of the horse pedaling away like mad. This requires modding as well as meshing.

If you're interested in learning to mesh I would suggest looking at EllaCharm's tutorial in the meshing tutorials section. It goes through a lot of information including the terminology used in meshing.

ETA: I looked in the downloads and there is a rideable terra-cotta horse but it seems the animations were not altered so the rider *does* pedal while on the horse. That's here: http://nene.modthesims.info/download.php?t=380100
Esmerelda's rideable dragon is cloned from a car and it looks like she carefully matched it up so that it uses the game's car driving animations as-is. That's here: http://nene.modthesims.info/download.php?t=408412
