Placing tents on community lots

I was trying to place some tents in a community lot 'campground' (in a regular, not travel, neighborhood).
I got the tent from the buy debug menu, but when I place the tent on the ground, it's packed up in a duffel bag. I've tried clicking it with shift +ctrl, but the only option that comes up is 'clone', there isn't an option to set the tent up.
So, someone here must know how to place a tent and tell me what I'm doing wrong here, right?

I have been thinking of doing the same thing since I got Barnacle Bay and it has a campground without tents, just umbrellas. However, the only way I can think to do it is to change the lot to residential, have some sim buy it and have that sim place the tents from his inventory. That way you get the option to place the tent set up. Afterwards, kick out the sim and change the lot back to a community lot. I haven't done this yet, but that is how I plan to do it.--Unless, of course someone has a better way......for which I am totally open.

Yeah, that's the lot I'm trying to add tents to, too.
I've noticed that in live mode when my Sim visits the lot she has the option to place the packed tent in her inventory, so I suppose it's possible for her to then place the tent there from her inventory and then just leave it. That might be easier than buying the lot and all that.
But ultimately I'd love to know how to place a tent in build mode without needing a Sim to set it up.

You could use a small mod which enables the permanent (erected) tents in the game catalog. I have some here:
