View Full Version : Sims 2 CC pkgs have all been disabled!

I used the download organizer for Sims 3, which I love, but it has disabled all of my Sims 2 CC!

I tried to to do a system restore - because all the Sims 2 CC was gone, my two new Sims 3 packs were unistalled because of this (Ambitions and Fast Lane). Then after the restore all the Sims 2 packages are disabled. I am sure my Sims 3 CC is now uninstalled.

I've really messed up my computer now! I am totally embarrassed to post this. Please help. Can I fix it? Can you help me?

Shamefully,
Pawzsim  :help:

If you mean the Dashboard, it will only run on your custom content folders, or folders you point it at. If it disabled all your TS2 CC, then you pointed it at the wrong folder. But you can always point it at that folder again and re-enable disabled files.

A system restore only affects the registry and installations within Program Files. It has nothing to do with the Documents folder (where your TS2 and TS3 content should be installed).

Disabled how? Deleted? Filetype changed to OFF or something rather than PACKAGE? Still there and apparently fine but not actually working?

Thanks - I will try to go in a enable all the the TS2 content. I thought it was deleted somehow. I did run the organizer for TS2 and it said that 3000+ packages have been removed because they no longer exist. What a mess.

I can't figure out how to enable those that I found in a file labeled "dup" on my desktop. This must be a file that the download organizer placed their when it fixed files when scanning the Sims 3 content. I think the Download Organizer for Sims 3 disabled the Sims 2 packages somehow. When I use the organizer for Sims 2 it doesn't find anything. All that is left in my Sims 2 Download folder and the subfolders is the text files or read-me files. I think they're hosed. I really don't know what else to do. I guess I will have to start collecting CC all over again. Darn.

Are they just normal package files in the dup folder? You should be able to just put them back in Downloads.

Dashboard doesn't do anything automatically; if you did try to "Fix" the TS2 files by accident, then they'll all still be in Downloads but the file extension will be .disabled rather than .package. If your files have been moved, then something else is at fault. Have you run a chkdsk or a disk cleanup, or similar, lately?

This is what I see, for example, in the "DUP" folder. a625e863ef44112fbbe410187c6ec0d5_0003.package.disabled

There were Sims 2 items in my Sims 3 folder apparently, when I used the Dashboard it found them. I hit fix all problems. Is there anything I can do?

By the way, thanks for your patience. I've never done something like this before.

So it only disabled the TS2 CC in your TS3 folder? Just remove the .disabled from the end of the filename to enable the files again (but, y'know, don't put 'em back in Mods/Packages...). I don't know what could have happened to your TS2 CC in Downloads though - very strange. :/

So if I find TS2 packages in the Dashboard for Sims 3 - should I disable them or are they ok to be there? Can I relocate them? I am going to go back and read what instructions there are for using this tool. I don't want to mess up both games! Thanks whiterider.

If you are only pointing Dashboard to Mods/Packages and not Downloads, and you find TS2 files in amongst your TS3 files, you should disable or move them, since they cause lag in TS3.
