I came up with this challenge playing my Star Trek Sims... Someone who knows the series probably can identify lots of things, but I hope it can be enjoyable without it. I don't know if it can be called a challenge since they are no score you can compare with others, but I hope it don't look like "I'm playing like this, you try too, kewl, lol". The rules may be complicated, but the objective is clear and not too easy.

Our heroes were traveling across the universe and were sent on a planet which resembles XX/XXIst century Earth for some reasons. Unfortunately, thanks to some problems, probably transporter malfunction or ionic storm, their group split and they can't communicate with the ship. Probably lost their memories. Two other people tried to use small shuttlecraft to help them, but thanks to another ionic storm they crashed on abandoned land. To return to their ship everyone from the group must gather together, so they can repair the shuttlecraft.

EPs:
It can be done with basegame, but the more the better.
Used CC:
-Bad, ugly, unsupported InSimenator (or not, if you have other cheat objects which can do required things)
-Visitor Controller
-SimWardrobe's food replicator
-Pee Anywhere (seriously)

-Choose some properly populated neighborhood- else it would be too easy.
-Make three families (so they will not just call the rest :) ): one with two Sims (help) and three with one. Make them as you like- including skills, personality etc.
-One Sim lost memories and became a townie (you can use Insimenator, but remember it's not supported etc.) You can't play him.
-One Sim had local money they meant to use in mission, so s/he bought small home/rented an apartment, but after supplying it with most necessary things (eating, sleeping, bathroom) s/he ran out of money. This Sim can spend lot of time on community lots searching for lost companions, but the time isn't staying still- when you come back you must set the proper hour and age him/her if "aging hour" was skipped. And you still must work to have money for food, rent and bills.
-One Sim was wandering around the city completely helpless, when s/he was rescued by a poor person. (Add one Sim in some random poor single family). Thankful traveler wants to repay, so he takes care of his good, but primitive (unselectable :p ) host(s). If one of his/her hosts dies, loses job/child/love of his/her life or goes insane, this one must become a Townie too. Before leaving to his/her search, the home must be in perfect condition-clean, everything repaired, plants in good condition, pets clean and fed. Because host has his/her life too, time don't have to be synchronized.
-Two last characters are alone (Visitor Controller) on the abandoned land. (Beach is teh bestest). Only things they got from their shuttlecraft is a food replicator and communicators (mobiles, or if you don't have them, a phone). The other things they got is abandoned shower (I know it's stupid, but having Sims whining 24/7 about smelling is more annoying, and on some beaches there are showers) and a private place under the tree (why Sims pee themselves? Any normal human being would rather pee in some dark corner than pee himself). They also made hammocks (if you don't have BV use a bench). The bad thing is, they cannot have visitors (but they can "invite" lost crewmembers) . Leaving this land is difficult and dangerous, so they are doing this only when the player is not looking. Or maybe they found out the planet is controlled by some superior, but not very smart being and plotting the escape?

Rules:
-You play all families swapping to next every three in-game days.
-Houses they live can't be too close to each other. Shuttlecraft lot must be as far from other buildings as you can.
-If any Sim grew old- you lost. S/He now wants to remain on the planet.
-If any Sim dies- you lost. Only whole group can return.
-"Transporter" Sims lost their memories, but they feel they must find someone. But they won't join the other one from group until they are sure- only by "move in" option. "Shuttlecraft" Sims know everything- if they meet a lost crewmember, you can manually set their relationship to him/her to high.
-A Sim who moves in to another one must play by the new family rules. At least one Sim must live on the "shuttlecraft" lot.

Redshirt Mini-Challenge
If you think this is too easy, you can make additional characters and hide them in town or sub-neighborhoods. When "found" they must die in some horrible accident before end of challenge without using cheats. Extra love when one of them becomes a zombie thank to zombie mod :D.

P.F. Mini-Challenge (this one IS stupid, easy and "I played like this lol". But I needed to add this.)
One of the pair stranded on the beach is madly in love with another. (set their chemistry so it's three bolts, use InSim to make one-sided love with strong relationship on both sides and strong proper gender preference).
Now you must keep your love-sick Sim free will on the eye so s/he never does anything to make another one return his/her love. ;)
