Sims 2 will not run.

Hello, I have all Sims 2 EPs and then SPs Mansion and Garden, Celebration, and Family Fun. Everything was successful for installation and the launcher opens fine, but when I hit 'play', it seems like it's loading, but nothing ever starts to run. I thought my computer wasn't reading the game right. So that I didn't have to use a disc, I installed that new Store Edition. The game still won't work. Has this happened to anyone before? Are there any solutions or will I have to reinstall? Also, there is no error message that appears and it somehow IS running when I look at my task manager processes, just not running in tasks. Thank you!!

You appear to have not gone through our main Game Help:Game Problem FAQ. Please go through and do the steps on this FAQ, including any others that it links to (for example the Game Help:Game Problem-Problem Custom Content FAQ).

Usually, in the vast majority of cases, actually going through and doing the steps (doing, not just reading) fixes issues - sometimes you may be asked to remove custom content, or to patch - please rest assured that all of our FAQs have been tested by our staff and volunteers and we wouldn't suggest you do something unless it's been known to fix particular issues.

I'm having the same problem, I did all of the steps in the game help FAQ yet the problem persists. I reinstalled Sims 2 Deluxe and university, they both run fine, yet when I install pets or seasons that is when the game won't start. The log says: Exception code: 0xC0000235 (-1073741259) NtClose was called on a handle that was protected from close via NtSetInformationObject. Not sure what this is about but if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Mystery Finger, you should start your own thread, rather than hijacking this one. The likelihood that you have the same exact problem as bprevite is low.

If you start your own thread, you will receive a lot of additional information about solving your problem, which you don't receive if you post in someone else's thread. Sending me a nasty email doesn't change the rules, or the usefulness of starting your own thread.

Since you believe that your problem is identical, I would suggest that you follow the link provided by whiterider above. If your problem is not solved by the Game Problem FAQ, then start a new thread and tell us what steps that you followed and what the results were.

Did you try running the game without the launcher?

Reinstalling is usually the very last resort. However, if you've tried everything else in the FAQ, then it seems like a reasonable step.

Ok, thanks. Also I noticed that my WinRAR just freezes when I open it. have you had that problem? Sorry about asking this question if needed I'll start another thread.

So you have several applications on your computer not working properly?
Check other programs.
Maybe that's more of general "Help! I've ruined my Windows" problem...

Maybe you downloaded a harmful peice of CC? You should scan your computer for viruses too start with. Then your antivirus might automatically remove the harmed files. This could be the reason why the 2 things that interact with cc are broken. I had almost the same prob just yesterday, I'd downloaded some CC which was harmed, I opened the sims, and after the loading vid it froze completely. I removed the "bad" files and now it works :D (It took me about 2 hours to find the bad files :faceslap: ) - Now I ONLY download CC from MTS2 because it's the only site I KNOW I can trust. ( Thanks MTS2 admins, mods... all of you that made this possible, and that made MTS2 a great place in general! :gjob: )

Ok, I finally got it working again!! :) none of the solutions on here really worked but thank you all very much for taking the time. it turned out that my crappy antivirus (ca security suite) actually BLOCKED all the programs i tried to run. as i mentioned earlier, other programs like winrar werent working either, but now that i switched back to norton, everything runs so smoothly that its like i scrubbed my computer without actually scrubbing! so once again thanks everyone
