For me, it's the bookcase (Education career track). Instead of standing in front of the mirror and hogging up the bathroom, a Sim can sit down and study charisma. If someone's hogging the piano, they can study Creativity.
I've gotten the idea of unlocking career rewards while I have Sims at college and using the bookcase! They seem to learn skills more quickly with it...in fact I had one Sim who was only one Creativity skill point away from maxing everything when she graduated!

Personally, I like any career rewards which make skilling a non-fun skill (like Charisma) fun. I like the Education bookcase, but I don't let sims sit and skill unless they want to/need it for a promotion. The pinball machine from the Gaming career is exceedingly useful in a BACC: one of the easiest careers to open, and the sims earn money while also having fun.
I dislike the Dance career reward, mainly because my sims seem to swarm it at every opportunity.

I really like the bookcase (Education) too, it's so useful if you don't want to have to buy about eight zillion different items just so your sim can learn skills. In my family of witches I turn each kid when they become a teen, then they can sit on the thrones which raise motives whilst studying. All the teens from that family go to college with full skills, pretty handy. I also like the chocolate machine (Culinary) because it's cute and makes money and the the camera (Artist) because it's really nice to have photos of the family around the house. I liked the plastic surgery machine (Showbusiness) but since I got InSIM I don't really need it.
And obviously... number one on my list: the cow plant. Legendary in my game.

I just wonder what the Entertainment reward (Hollywood-like star) is supposed to do, other than look pretty.

Yeah, same with the Adventure statue thingy - Why?
I love the bookcase, for its usefulness, and also the chocolate making station, because it's fun.

The star supposedly is for entertainment and the adventure statue raises motives slightly: http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Career_rewards

According to that Wiki article, outgoing, sloppy male Sims can "water" the plants in the Slacker reward...! LOL!!!
But as far as the bookcase...if you give them the Education bookcase, it WILL satisfy the want to buy a bookcase. At least that's been my personal experience.

I love the Bookshelf! But, I can't say which is my favorite, because I haven't tried them all.

I love the career reward that comes with the medical career, not for it's usefullness, but because it's so funny, to watch them pull out a phone, gasp, and stuff it back in all paniced ^-^

Athletic - everyone can use, they increase their body skills fast and they have really funny doning that.
Millitary - Same as above (but this one takes lot of place)
Education - I sooo want that kind of bookcase myself! This reward is perhaps number 1 cause everyone can learn abouth everything.

I like most of the rewards the bookcase I think is most useful, the only one I hate is the resurrect-a-thingy no-one is coming back to life in my game when your gone...your gone no matter how attached I was to a deceased sim I can t bring them back.

My personal favorites:
#1 is the the bookshelf simply the most useful of any of them.
#2 is the punching bag, fastest way to gain body skill.
#3 both the adventure statue and the journalistic award. If used in combination you can have a sim write or paint (or party for that matter) for hours on end with no loss of needs.
Ones I like to use simply for amusement are the lie detector, face transplant (highly amusing when it fails) and of course the cowplant.
Least favorites would be the golf putting game and the hydroponic plant thing, boring and completly worthless.

It still costs §0 so it won't prevent sims from wanting a more expensive one.
Anyway, The Bookcase is a bit boring, at least for me. Sims just sit and read and gain skils at cheat-tastic speeds. No unique animations, no things you can't get by other means, they just sit and read... My personal favorites are mad-sciency things like lie detector...

I quite like the golf putter thing that Business sims gets. Studying Charisma is normally really boring, and that makes it more fun. The only other fun way is for sims to buy a parrot and talk to it, but parrots eat a stupid amount and it annoys me.....
I also like the punchbag and the chocolate-making machine.
I don't really use the university career rewards much, I'd like to give them a try.
Can anyone tell me what the point is of the koi pond career reward??

Education is one of my favorites, but for the Apocalypse--I had Adventure and Journalism in the study area by day and bedroom by night, and no one needed to eat. Ever. Kids sat and played chess all weekend without having a single meal.

I agree with most people in that the bookcase is extremely useful, and anything that makes charisma (and accessible to kids) is great. Before I had the career rewards for charisma, toddlers whose favorite toy was the talking bunny head couldn't gain any more charisma skills once they were a kid.
The career rewards I really don't like are the resurrection phone and cowplant. I don't want to prolong my sims lives. And I don't want to give them a second chance at life. And since I also play with no supernatural - I don't want any zombies either. And I don't want accidental deaths because my sim was stupid enough to take a cake from a plant that has a huge mouth.

I agree. Once a Sim is gone, that's all she wrote. I don't care if one of my Knowledge Sims has a Want to make a zombie...ain't happening! :p

Education's is most versatile, and the Resurrect-O-Tron is handy at times, but I always like the Legal podium. It's like the fun speech-making politicians have, but with money. ;)

Viewing it will raise the fun and comfort of children and elders.

Here are my favorites.
Business: Fun way to earn charisma for children and older
Gamer: Gives a fun boost really fast especially for children doing homework
Journalism: Gives a mood boost to everyone in the room
