View Full Version : Counter Slots in other kinds of Objects

This object doesn't particularly need 'fixing', so much as I would like to understand why it doesn't work the way i thought it would.

This is my very first experience with adding slots. I made a new bookcase and planned to add slots to the shelves. Once I finally got my bookcase looking reasonably close to my vision, I was ready to start adding slots. Since this is my first time, I decided to only do one slot and test. The first surface I added a slot to, looks more like a counter, so I thought it would be cool to make it a counter slot and possibly put a customized expresso machine on it.

Finally got the translations worked out so that counter objects really sit on it, and at the right place. My counter slot is not at counter height, so I expected the animations to be off. What actually happens it that my sim can not access the object, instead a jump error occurs as soon as he starts for it.

So my question is:

Did I do the slot wrong, or are there other things that would need to be changed/added to allow it to work as both a bookcase and a counter?

If it is the latter, I'll change it to deco slot and forget about it as a counter. (I was probably never going to make the customized expresso machine that would fit in this little space anyway.)

Making slots usable is a bit more complicated than just setting the slot type, yeah. There are some BHAVs you have to hook up to the OBJf. It's not insanely hard, but it's not very well documented either. :)

Thank you. I appreciate the insight.
