View Full Version : If the Sims Medieval runs on the same engine as the Sims 3...

Does that mean it may be possible for someone to create a mod that allows a hierarchy like that which will be found in the Sims Medieval, to be put in the base game? I'm not into modding so I'm not sure if it may be possible or not.

That sounds like it would be pretty hard coded so I'm not sure that specifically would be possible but there is going to be a lot of TSM content coming to TS3. It's currently unknown whether TSM will be able to run S3 CC or vice versa but it's predicted to be a lot like how Castaway was handled (didn't take much skill to exchange content between the two games)

Well, the water in the ocean is the same, as is the sky...

There are many things different between the way the stories are played. Sims Medieval does not allow you to build houses either, just plop down house/castle parts that are already modeled and built..sort of like putting a house object in the game rather than building it from scratch. Think of MMO houses where you can plop them down but they all look pretty much alike.

I think it would be more likely we can use models from Sims Medieval in Sims 3 rather than the other way around. I suspect though that it will not be very easy to do since EA doesn't want us to NOT buy Sims medieval. :)

Exactly what rian said. I imagine it would use the same engine for CAS, but as far as customizability goes, that would be about it. I'm also fairly certain that clothes are not customizable, as they come with your profession. So as far as mods go, the mods that would actually have a function in TSM would be limited.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe they can implement some of the new features from Medieval to the Sims 3. I know it's a long shot but if someone did it I'd be more than happy to use it. :) By the way does anyone know why they keep calling it a base game? Is it gonna have expansions like the Sims3?

Are you sure? I don't follow TSM at all but I thought they were... anyway they will have a mesh and a texture which is all you need, channels can be added easily.

About 60% sure, though I don't know anything about modding so there's that. I watched the director's walkthrough of TSM on youtube, and all the outfits were fairly standardized. Wizards had robes, warriors had chainmail, etc etc. Of course that may just be the staff not choosing to customize their outfit, rather than not having the ability to.
