Hobbies questions

Do Sims' hobbies decay while they're on vacation? Also, my Sim doesn't seem to have a predetermined hobby (I kinda want to see the ultimate average sim so she has 5 bar in all personality traits). Is that normal? (and before you ask, yes, I've done every type of hobby activity at least once.

I've noticed that if you do hobby-related activities on community lots (like working out) it doesn't seem to build interest in a hobby. Did your Sim do these activities on their home lot?

In my game I occasionally have sims who have no OTH -- usually, when I look at what determines an OTH it's because they fulfil the requirements for two or more hobbies to be OTHs. For instance, one of my sims is sloppy, outgoing, lazy, playful and nice -- she has no OTH as she fills the requirements for arts (sloppy, nice) and nature (sloppy, playful). I'm not sure if a completely average sim (5/5/5/5/5) will have an OTH as they don't have strong personality traits which OTHs are defined by.

If you have SimPE, you could go in and find out what their preferred hobby (if any) is, plus you can change it.

I do have two question about hobbies-I've looked in SimPE, and have found that generally the "genetic" hobbies are usually different from the "preferred hobbies". I wonder what the difference is, and if it makes really any difference to change it to the preferred one?

If you have the latest (or sort of the last full version of) SimPE You look it up under the "Freetime" tab when you load a sim from the "Sim Browser" function. There are several tabs for individuals: career, etc-the EP's that are tabbed are NL, BV, OFB, and FT as individual tabs.

I was able to find out what their traits are-not just their turn ons and turn offs..but their own traits, which are exactly the same list. What got me was that a couple of them have the "lycanthropy" trait, and I don't even have Pets! Speaking of that, I have Mr. Bigfoot in my NPC list, too and no BV! What gives with that?

I wonder if I can summon him...nah..don't bother the big guy. Life is hard for Big Foots.

You're seeing references to BV's Bigfoot because you have an EP released after BV. Subsequent EPs are somewhat aware that their predecessors exist, perhaps EAxis builds upon the previous engine each time? I don't have have the Pets EP, but because I have at least one EP that is post-Pets, I have Pet-related buttons in CAS and in the neighborhood view. They are grayed out and disabled, but I still have them nonetheless.

As a matter of fact, they do..and thanks for the mod link..I didn't download it before because I never thought it would be necessary. Now I know why it is!

TwoJeff's simblender, MATY's bat-box, and Paliden's hobby adjuster will all tell you your sim's predestined hobby. I've never really paid attention to whether they lost enthusiasm or not on vacation, but they can build it. Personality traits and hobby enthusiasm are different things. You can have a sim with 5 of each in either. To get 5 hobby points in each hobby, just have them participate in every category every day. Good luck finding time for that one.

OK. I have the version of SimPE before the Q&A release, but I don't see any other hobby but their Predestined one. Am I missing something or is it my Stupidity Day?

I just loaded up the SimPe and took some shots of it. I might have misstated the information as being under the FT tab, because you're right-there is no "genetic hobby", but only "predestined hobby.", which I would assume this the same thing.
For clarification, I've attached all three shots of the screen so everyone can see what I'm talking about in the "tabs" function. My version is .72.1.333855 (Alpha version).
