View Full Version : The "Back in mah day..." game!

I don't know if it was on TV or if anyone else has already heard of it, but here's the game:
:here: Firstly, you start off with "Back in mah/my day...".
:here: End with "We just hoped for the best."

:!!: EXAMPLE: "Back in my day, we didn't have Sims, we just had doll-houses and hoped for the best." or "Back in my day, we didn't have sex, we just pulled down our pants and hoped for the best."...
I'd LOVE to see the ideas some of you guys come up with, let's make some insulting ones!

Back in my day (or at least, before I was about 8), we didn't have X-Box with customer support. We had the original NES, and when something broke, we just blew into it and hoped for the best.

Back in my day, playground equipment wasn't round, plastic, and stuck in sand and totally safe with lawsuits on standby just in case we did something stupid like purposely jump off the top of the twenty-foot slide and got ourselves hurt. No, we had giant, pointy, sharp-angled things made of metal and grounded in concrete, asphalt, or, if we were lucky, little rocks that got stuck in your shoes and made dents and bruises in your skin, and if we got ourselves hurt by doing something stupid, we'd get whapped upside the head. Our moms just sent us out with a box of Band-Aids and a warning not to talk to strangers and we'd all just hope for the best.

lol At those stories. Hard to keep up, loved them, but I like meh small sentences.
But longer ones are more than welcome! : )
Back in my day we didn't have Lady Ga Ga, we just had hermaphrodites and hoped for the best.
(I think you're meant to picture it in your head with a old country-folk's accent, droaning on about the past probably :P)

Back in my day, we didn't have the luxury of playing games like this one.
We had to go to work every day from when we learned to turn our heads by ourselves. Some of us exhibited a preference to turn our heads left, but we were quickly corrected. We would stand there, at the factory assembly line, to assemble jagged metal and glass shards into aesthetically pleasing arrangements so that children luckier than us would have toys to play with.
Then, instead of lunch break, we were to clean the factory toilets. If we were lucky, we got to lick the mold between the tiles, fighting off the terrible vitamin C-deficiency we all suffered. Myself, I was a frail and weak child, so I was always last to lick the mold: most days, there wouldn't be any left at all. When I finally recovered from the hits I had received by a cane at the hand of Tiny Tim, my deficiency had gotten so severe, my teeth fell straight out off my gums, my hair curled into dreadlocks, and my fingernails turned Technicolor. But we were pleased about this, for it meant my parents no longer had to spend money on toothpaste. That afforded my Dear Father a lens for his homemade eyeglass-frames and my mother got a spare toothbrush to clean the train station toilets with, allowing her to alternate so the taste could fade.
Sadly, toothpaste was my only source of calories. Because they couldn't support me, my parents (who had both died from horrible causes at this point) sold me to the circus along with my 21 siblings.
We spent every night and day learning how to cut off our limbs and reattach them as a trick, but we never got it down. By the end of the year, we didn't have a single arm.
The circus manager took pity on us, and gave us a toy. Imagine our surprise when we discovered it to be the very kind of toy we used to assemble!
But due to our tragic lack of extremities, we couldn't play.

Kids: back in my day, we didn't have the foncy-poncy playthings you have nowadays.
We just slammed our foreheads into Clostridium tetani-ridden shards of metal and hoped for the best.

(Back in my day, we didn't have forum games. We just told our best friend something intelligent and hoped for the best)

It solved a surprisingly large amount of problems.

Ok, back in my day no one had mobile phones. We just roamed the streets when we wanted to find someone and hoped for the best.

Back in my day, we didn't have reality TV show contests like "Ru Paul's Drag Race" to supply our future drag queens with the necessary skills and equipment, we just gave them mommy's make-up kit, a playlist of show tunes, and the game "Pretty Pretty Princess" and hoped for the best.

Back in my day we didn't have home water slides for our in-ground pools (hell, most of us didn't have in-ground pools!), we just had Slip N' Slides, and a quick prayer that our parent hadn't set it up on top of a rock (resulting in a good chunk of our skin getting ripped off when we hit the bump) or too close to a hill (resulting in us continuing to slide down the hill as well, and gaining momentum until we ended up inevitably crashing into something headfirst at what felt like roughly 90 miles an hour) and hoped for the best.

Back in my day we didn't have children's learning apps for iPads, we just had TV and the little Speak-and-Spell with the demonic-sounding robotic voice and hoped for the best.

Back in my day, erm wait...
PPfffft. To be honest the little twerps downloading it from the internet for free are just a bunch of pussies. All these 14 year olds act like shoplifting is a dying art. If I wanted to go get the newest metallica album, would I go on youtube and download all of the songs? HELL NO! I would go put in my boots, get on the bus, pay the fare, sit next to a racist idiot, go into the music store, take the music, go into the home department, lay on a couch with my walkman(Or later in the decade my CD player), slip out the tape, put it into the walkman(Or CD player), then put the tape(Or CD) back. It was fun! Adrenaline pumping! Now what is it? A bunch of pimpily faced teens left clicking the mouse over and over and rarely getting caught. Come on! Life used to be like grand theft auto, running from the po po becasue you just smoked weed infront of them, and then not realising that your pants fell off a quarter of a mile ago.

Ugh, people stealing from the internet and not getting consequences. Sure would've been cool back in the day. You know, when we had original movie ideas? See this is why kids in america are getting fat, you don't have to go to the store anymore to shoplift. All you have to do is go to youtube and download songs. Ugh.
(And really really really hoped for the best)

Back in my day we went outside, and hoped for the best.
