View Full Version : What's the most annoying thing on the internet?

I guess we all spend some time in the World of... "world wide web". Either googling, reading news, chatting or mailing. Sometimes it can get frustrating though. "Site's not available" etc. But that's not the only thing to vent about..

For me what I hate most (since I don't have a very fast internet connection at the moment) are sites that use a lot of Flash. First they need to load for like 60 seconds, then you have to listen to a song, click away some ads and finally.. there you are at the "front page" where you have to click at yet another site to get to the main site. Puh.

Another thing is the commentary area down below news articles. I've never met so many less giftet people in my life as the people who comments there. There was an article after Elizabeth Taylors death were someone was just whining about how she gets so much attention. Aswell as people whining about articles they don't like, and that they don't even need to read.

.. besides this there's:

- Spam mail.
- Internet banks or tax sites that doesn't work. Tricky.
- Picso sites..
- 8 000 000 google hits, when 1 000 000 are the same.
- Surveys that fool you into pay for stuff. Everyone wants an ipod, right?

I'll save the room for others to vent a little aswell :)

Pop-up advertisements for a certain online game I won't name here because it's already got too much advertisement going on.

Permanoobs. Aka people who will forever remain a noob at something because they are either lazy, or they just do not wish to learn even after asking 100 questions about "how does I do dis". And they type horribly like what Guysim there bravely demonstrated for us.

Shock sites. My friends love sending me those links, and I fall for them every time. I was scarred for life after seeing Goatse. :(

Trolls/internet bullies. They go around saying rude and mean things just to get a rise out of someone, and they get some kinda sick satisfaction when people fall for their bait. Personally, I think those trolls/bullies should either find themselves a (better) hobby, or be lined up against a wall and gunned down.
Relatedly, I also hate Encyclopedia Dramatica.

people who don't read description boxes on youtube, i hate when you're watching sims videos and in the description they say i got these downloads from MTS and SimsResource and then there's 4000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 comments asking where they got this and that! :@

And then there's those people who ask repeatedly what the song name is when it's in the description box as well. -.-

In general, people that doesn't notice things when it's tattooed into their foreheads.

.. also I hate those sites on facebook that seems to exciting to be true, then you click on them and the link is sent around. "See this guy with two heads singing God save the queen on top of the Eiffel Tower".

Another thing I don't like is people who's in for one-liners and doesn't even know how to make them work. "My cat died today". "LOL".

People who are dicks for no reason. If you wouldn't say something in public/to my face then you shouldn't say it on the internet.

The thing that annoys me most is websites that I go to that have sound embedded in them that I can't turn off. (Or, worse, ads that run automatically and have sound that I can't turn off.) It's especially frustrating for me because I'm a night owl and am often surfing around at 3AM when the rest of the household is asleep. Sometimes, I've forgotten that the volume on my laptop is turned up because I'd been doing some composition earlier or some-such, and so when I get an ad that has sound it BLARES! At 3AM. I'm sure those who live with me appreciate that...

Oh man, that's what I was thinking of. More generally, any website that has any form of video or sound that starts playing automatically. Personally, I got in the habit of leaving my sound muted at all times, just in case (except for, you know, when I deliberately want to watch/listen to something, and once that's done I immediately mute again).

I will also second (...fourth, fifth, whatever) the whole problem of the proud ignoramuses who can't be bothered to read a thing before asking their (often poorly-written) question.

pop-ups containing porn and viruses.
a website about tattoos on google gave me a lovely pop up of "teen hand-jobs" and an attempted virus.

Anything that asks for your email. Also, sites that exist solely to spread viruses.

Vampirelion

I agree with Shoosh..I hate viruses and annoying trollers. Like on youtube for example,it is hella ridiculous! I listen to Disturbed every now and then, and on one of their videos it's constantly bombarted with trolls and people who feel like fighting over the video or what the song means. As well as spam in my email..I can't stand it. The internet is really a cool place, but there's a lot of dipwads out there who for some reason like to ruin the fun for other people..

:here: Internet trolls, who are actually REAL people, who for some reason like to pick on you and persistently disagree with everything you say in a rather impolite manner.
:here: Viruses, who honestly makes these things? And they're so tricky, the worst ones are the ones that tell you that you have a virus, and in your freak out to try and protect your PC you do everything imaginable to get rid of it, and this would include clicking the provided link to cure your PC. AntiVirus 8, it's fake. It tricked me. XD
:here: Spammers, i got really excited when I went in my YouTube inbox and then found it was some girl who said she loves Justin Bieber and send a [mysteriously broken - I smell virus!] link to an image saying do I look like this person. I don't know why they do it, however a very unfriendly and somewhat intimitaed Personal Message to this person soon sorted them out. :P
:here: Weird adverts. I mean, some are okay, like that IMVU game, I can expect to see on a Sims site or what-not, but it's other sites, that say "Hot Russian Girls want you!" or "Meet whoever, 2 friends in common. Accept friend request?" (<And I wasn't even on MSN). It's sad, and also weird how these lifeless girls let themselves be plastered all over the internet probably as links to viruses and what not.
:here: Plain weird spam. Not saying much, I always get pestered for scooter sales, and I'm a guy who was offered a discount on my next breast enlargement. What. The. Hell.

That's it from me, though. :)

"Just got up! Nice sleep!"
"What to have for breakfast? :S
"Having some lovely toast!"

Facebook-games and facebook-gamers I should say is the most annoying thing ever in my personal experience. In second place comes the people who just have to post comments with no relevance to the question in yahoo-answers and the like. Third, the comments on YouTube. These three have destroyed my faith in humanity.

Oh, had to hide some people on facebook aswell. Some just have to tell you whatever they do.. and update their status like every hour. Had a girl who posted like 5 posts about her "love" coming home in 24 hours.

If I'm on a discussion board I always ignore people who use a lot of CAPS, sms language and uses no punctations. I do accept that some people have dyslexia though. Aswell as people who doesn't have English as their first language (like myself).

All these "Russian wife" ads, and "alternative facebook" links for teen girls who wants to show their tits are some crap also.

"IF U D0NT LIKE MII FACEB00K,THATS N0T MY PR0BLM! SCR0LL D0WN T0 THA EXIT IF U D0NT LIKE IT!"
I swear, she types as if she's in kindergarten..and always uses CAPS..I feel like she's yelling at me :( lol

If you use firefox you could install the Flashblock add-on. It replaces flash objects with a button, so you only see or hear the stuff you click on.

Hit the target with a ball and you win an ipod :jest:. These are games a 4 year old could beat.

Those who write "first" on a comments board if they are first.

People who use Facebook just for the purpose to air their personal drama, family, or relationship problems.

Websites (namely forums) that require you to register an account before you can do anything with them. Obviously I can respect not letting anonymous people make posts, but to not even be able to read anything without being signed in...?

There's a few Sims sites like that. Why would I want to give out even my junk email address when I can't even see what kind of stuff I'll be able to download once I do? Argh.

People who don't seem to know what grammar is.

Despite the fact that humans invented grammar anyway.

I personally hate it when I click on a link on a google search page and it says:

"Document has moved, redirecting..." and redirects me to a porn site.

URGH!!!
