I know there's a way to link recolors so that one uses the texture of the other, i've downloaded outfits that way. Can anyone tell me how its done? I tried looking in through the tutorials, but either a) i don't know exactly what I'm looking for, or b) its done the same as the repository technique for objects. To make it completely clear, I'm making a set of earrings the left and right earrings completely separate (for the purpose of converting them to BV jewelry). i want the right side earrings to reference the textures of the left side earrings so that the downloaded files are considerable smaller.

If i remember correct(its been a while) you need to change the texturesfilename(and instance id attached to it) in the TXMT file(material file)
There are atleast 2 subtabs were you need to do this(cant remember the names)

could you possible give greater detail? it's sort of making sense but its rather fuzzy still. i just want to make sure I'm changing the right stuff

EDIT: I figured it all out. Found a tut by Phaenoh on repository-ing age conversions and used the technique on the accessory. And it works like i intended, so I'm all good now

I do it all the time for clothing, but I haven't done it for accessories. For clothes, you go into the txmt file of the one you want to use as the replacement and copy the name. Then you go into the one you want replaced and paste the name of the original as its name. After that you can delete the texture of the one you replaced.

Because I suck at explaining things, here is a tutorial with pictures on doing it for clothes: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=300954

ETA: Hee, we posted at the same time :)
