Game Crashing in CAS

Whenever I go into CAS, it loads fine, but after I put the last name and click the create new sim button, the screen goes black, and I get the "The application has crashed. The application will now terminate." error.
I tried taking out my downloads and savedsims folder, but it still crashes. I read through the game problem section in SimsWiki, but nothing is working.
I just reinstalled windows and my games, and the hard drive also crashes before I get the application has crashed error, so could that have something to do with it?

Well, I don't really know if the hard drive really crashes, but the screen goes black for about 5 seconds, goes back to the desktop, and I get an error message. I don't know what it says because it goes back to the game for a split second and then I get the application has crashed error.

It sounds like your game is crashing. If your hard drive crashes, you won't be able to start your computer, much less start the game.
