View Full Version : Resolved - Slot Configurations

Is it possible to place floor lamps or the outdoor ground lights in a slot? I can get sculptures that can only be placed on the ground to work and table lamps too but that slot configuration doesn't work for floor lamps. Even though it's a lamp...that goes on the ground. :faceslap:

It may be possible. In the Init bhav, check the placement/height flags as well as the object's weight.

Hi, MSD :) If I'm not making a lamp will that information help with the slots? I have some planters with slots that I'd like to be able to place the ground lights on--not that I'm making lamps that I want to place in slots. As far as I know, the slot files and placement flags are two separate things and the numbers don't match up with anything from the placement BHAV's?

*waves back* :)

I think the issue may not necessarily be in your planter, but with the floor lamps and ground lamps since those are the objects being snapped into the slot. For simplicity sake, I'll verbally swap your planter with a generic table if you don't mind. :)

If an object is too heavy (compared to the support strength of table) and/or only has the "Placeable on floor" flag set, it shouldn't be able to snap into the table. It would only be able to be placed on the floor, as you're telling the game that is its placement type. (Here (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=82685) is a list of Object flag values.) You would need to specify whatever objects you want to snap into the slot to be "placeable" into that kind of object placement and that the surface/slot has a support strength which can hold the object's weight. You could either create a default replacement for floor lamps and the outdoor lamps (possibly excluding the fence post lights) or clone them to create an alternate version. Alternately, simply using "Moveobjects on" may be all that needs to be done to force the object into the slot.

(I'm sorry if my first response wasn't very helpful.) I hope that makes sense. If I'm wrong or inaccurate, I hope someone corrects me. ;) I'm certainly willing to yield to those more knowledgeable if they chime in.

You're always helpful! Besides, it's always nice to know I'm not talking to myself. I think you're right about the weight given to the lamps being the reason why they're not fitting in the slots I'm using. So I guess I'm wondering if there's a way to tweak the slots to accept objects regardless of the weight. Like, put a 2 in F5 and anything can be placed kinda' thing.
