Very odd Behaviour in game, I don't think it's a jump bug because they're getting the instruments out and either there's no sound, they play three notes and stop or stop straight away.
Also there is no sound when they learn a new composition.
It's not my computer/sound card or anything because there's no other problems in or out of game.
I've tried multiple instruments in diffrenet neighbourhoods ie Twinbrook, Bridgeport etc, and its the same.
Don't have any current instrument/sound hacks tho did have probs trying to add custom music, well tried and failed, just didn't play so took it out of the file.

Does this still happen when you remove all your CC, and delete the four *Cache.package files in Documents?

Just tried it in Bridgeport only and still same,
Had a little think what it could be and only thing I could think of was that I tried to install AwsomeMod and copy pasted my Game/Bin resource.cfg to desktop gave up trying to get above working then over pasted back and undid everything else....wouldn't suprise me if I faffed it up I was in a bit of a tiz
If it is this how do I fix it? Any ideas on whats gone wrong?

Game/Bin resource.cfg? Where exactly did you place AwesomeMod, under Program Files or Documents? You shouldn't even be messing with the resource.cfg file in the Game\Bin folder, as that is part of the game installation and not related to custom content.

I was trying to understand the framework and mod installation instructions very late at night, and got all confused about the .dll file and all that stuff, but had everything backed up so just put it back after.
Please don't hurt the lamplit newbie::cowering in shame::

Thinking on I'm going to un-install and re-install my OL EP and see if that works, ill be back to let you know.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh, well that didn't work either.

Huh, I just restored the sound options to default and it worked! don't know why, its been on those settings for ages without problems before.
Thanks for your patience and help!

If you do reinstall, you should be aware that you don't need any dll and you don't need to touch the Program Files folder. Game Help:Installing Sims 3 Package Files.
