Now that Generations is coming out I've been considering getting off my butt and actually getting Late Night.

I just had a quick question; what new instruments are there? I've seen the keyboard and drums. Is there a piano? What about the violin like in the Sims 2? Just wanted to know what there is past the guitar from the base game. Thanks.

The keyboard and piano, as you might expect, are for the same skill; the piano skill. However, the keyboard is portable, while the grand piano isn't (but it does add to the environment score of the room).

All of the other instruments are portable, including the drums which you have already seen.

There's no violin, though there is a bass.

The skills all share similarities, in they all have special compositions you can learn, they can all provide a source of funds through tips, and they all have the benefit of slowly raising the relationship scores between the performer and the members of the audience. With each instrument skill, the higher the skill level, the larger the tips.

Is there a microphone for singing?

A band with no singers? DX

Thanks for the info.

They can sing solo though, with songs learned from China, France, and Egypt. But somehow in the sim's world, singing is not .... worthy enough to be considered "music" and be a part of the band.

Odd world, I know.

And I was so hoping I would get a violin in TS3 because I am learning violin right now (in real life). I wish I could play for money in downtown streets but I am still bad. :) Americans aren't that sympathetic to starving musicians though, not like the more artsy European counterparts.
