I have had an avalanche of different problems since I installed generations. I even tried uninstalling the base game and eps and sps and removing all CC but I'm still having huge problems. Crashes, error code 12's, items disappearing from the lot or my buy/build catalog, my first kid got an imaginary friend who is apparently still on the lot cause I hear the noise when it moves but it is no longer visible, and there is even a place on the back of my house where there is a 5x5 square of grey. I have to save every five minutes or the game freezes and even during a save it might crash or give that awesome error code 12.

I have been lucky with my game because I didn't have any of these problems until this newest ep. I even got around the error code 12 a couple times by doing a save as and just renaming my game. But now I can only play for maybe 15 minutes before everything goes wrong.

I was just wondering if anyone had any helpful suggestions. I've tried contacting for help but they told me just to uninstall and reinstall again. I know my computer isn't the problem because everything is up to date.

I've already cleared my CC down to only updated content and things I use a lot then moved everything else out. I even took out the tunable core mod when I realized it was the reason the game wouldn't let me pick traits in create a sim and got rid of all but one skin pack, none of which are defaults so it doesn't overwrite the game's because that was causing my sims to turn into black and grey bald zombies. I wanted to try and package my mod packages since I read having a lot of those files can slow it down but I can't find a program to do that on a mac.

I also know that I can only play the game for periods of two hours under optimal conditions or my mac basically overheats or something and causes a crash.

So anyone with some insight would be welcome.

You do present a wide range of problems:

- Crash to desktop, Error 12 on save

- 15 minutes of free play before "something goes wrong"

- Corrupted grey tiles

- Mac overheats after 2 hours.

Are you certain your computer will overheat and function badly after about 2 hours, or you derived this conclusion from TS3? Not saying you don't know much about computers, I am just saying there is not enough info for me to be sure. I don't even know where to begin from here.

But a generic approach would be:

- Clear all remnants of Sims 3: Uninstall completely, delete all CC.

- Backup your saved game if you want to, but don't get them out until TS3 is working properly. You don't need more troubles than it is.

- Reboot computer, install TS3 as if it is a brand new game.

- Patch base game right after you install. Until base game is 100% patch, then install the first EP, patch it to 100%, the move on to next EP.

- Start out with a simple map, like Sunset Valley. Play with an EA made family. Save the game a couple times.

Why don't you try everything to this point to make sure your game works smoothly, first.
