Frustrating problem. Please help.

I need one of my Sims to stop being a witch. I have made one Witchbegone potion and purchased another one from another witch. Both potions have been taken out of my Sim's inventory. They are both sitting out on a table. They are both unselectable, so my Sim can't drink either one. :( Why? What can I do to fix it? How do I get a potion that is selectable?

It needs to be in the sim's inventory, then you click on the sim and you should get the option to 'drink Witchbegone potion' (or something along those lines).
