Generations and Instruments

[Sims MX]

I was looking at the game's Skills XML (0xCDC3CFD356BCAAC7) and noticed there are several children-only skills related to the instruments (guitar, drums, piano, and bass). According to the XML, these skills are supposed to be added by Generations.

As I don't have Generatiosn yet, I'm curious. Do these skills really exist? Can children finally learn to play the piano?

That's interesting. I haven't noticed. Could these occur as a result of the various clubs/schools the sims join?

Children can only join ballet or scouts so no music skills there. Maybe they were intending to do a music club for kids but didn't? They didn't add music skills for children, there are a lots of weird references in the code that aren't finished (ie the game has contained skeleton information for animals since the BG)

Those hidden skills come from sending children to boarding schools.
I found the info in the Generation guide from SimsVIP. Here is the link (http://simsvip.com/?page_id=1877). Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

It works like the xylophone, the pegbox... Once the Sim is old enough to start to learn the skill, the "hidden" points gained previously will show up.

I had the skills "unlock" from field trips to the theatre. But no, they won't show up until the child has aged up.
