Can't buy any jewelry in University Life Collection

I recently got the University Life Collection. I also own Pets and NL. There is a new tab in the fourth menu in CAS that allows me to put jewelry (not glasses accessories) on my Sims, but for some reason I can't BUY any jewelry from the store. And unless I put jewelry on my Sims in CAS, I cant access it in the mirror. The item that sells jewelry is invisible and unclickable, but for some reason still appears, description and all, in the catalog. The preview image in the catalog says "No preview available." I can't find any other items to let my sims buy jewelry, and I haven't seen any other posts related to this issue. There is no patch for this collection. The description said something about "taking shiny things your sim has found and creating jewelry out of it" so is this an issue of Maxis putting in an item in here that required another expansion pack to work (FT, Seasons, or BV?)

Have you taken a character to a premade store with a jewelry display? If so, does it behave the same way?

I ask because it's not clear what you've tried. If you're building your own store and sending the the sim there, or trying to put it on a residential lot, maybe you're doing something wrong at that stage (for one thing, you shouldn't even be able to buy the jewelry display on a residential lot). If it doesn't work in a pre-existing building, you know there's something wrong with the item.

Any of the clothing stores in the downtown you got with Nightlife should have a jewelry display. I'm surprised you didn't have the jewelry option in CAS with NL; but perhaps I'm confused because my NL came as part of Double Deluxe. If you can't find it one in a downtown store try the University Way shops at Sim State. What ought to happen is your sim selects it and you get the CAS display appropriate to that sim's gender. (Don't try to buy jewelry for your girlfriend. It doesn't work like that.) You select each item as you would in CAS; then take the sim home, go to the mirror, and go through the same routine to put them on. Anyone of the same gender living in the same house should be able to access the jewelry tabs for the items purchased.

If an item that came with the game is broken, you've got a problem. I suppose there might be a CC or hack conflict breaking that item, so try it without your downloads folder as explained in the FAQ.

Ok I looked at all the clothing shops in Downtown and Sim State and could not find the jewelry display already placed. The display only shows up in my community lot catalog, under misc/misc. I can place the item on a counter (though its invisible), I just can't have my sims interact with it. I took out all my CC and hacks and I still had the same problem.

I sort of found a workaround. I created a new sim in CAS, added jewelry to the person and added them to a lot with sims who were made before I got Uni. I can then use the mirror to add that jewelry to my other sims. This is not a very good solution though, as some of my lots cant fit any more people.

I also realized that I installed the Sims 2 Store addition that came with the collection. Could this be what's causing the problem?

So it's definitely broken in the game code, then. I suppose it might be the Store addition. Short of reinstalling I got nothing, sorry. :( You shouldn't have to go through all that crap to get a little jewelry onto your sims.
