View Full Version : Taking off rails - Solved Leave objects to the experts and admire from afar!

I want a wheelchair ramp for my next lot, and found one http://www.all4sims.de/board/filebase.php?fileid=5701&lim=0. The only thing is I want it plain. so would like to take off the rails, and the zebra crossing marks and also the sign. Being someone that needs a whole 'simpe for dummies' handbook I wouldnt have a clue how to do this. I loaded up simpe and found in the mesh(?) the sign, and beside that edit/delete
Im guessing if I delete it the sign will go? Surely it cant be that easy?? Also where on earth do I find the other bits in all that mumble jumble that I want to change? :help:

What you are thinking is more complicated...
Firstly if you want to remove the sign, the rails etc., you have to edit the mesh in a 3D program like Blender,Milkshape or Maya!

Secondly,you want it to be usable?If Yes then its impossible because you are trying to make a sim traverse into two levels with the same elevation (more info (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=402863)).
If no, editing the mesh is fine and can do what you want! ;)

Thanks thought it must be a bit more complicated than that! Didnt want it to be usuable, was just wanting to keep it decorative.

The GMDC is the mesh, and the sign does have a subset of its own. However it's only the face of it and not the back/pole. You can delete the sign subset from the GMDC and teh SHPE and it will not show in game (again, only the face). To remove the rails you will want to export teh concrete subset from the GMDC and delete the relevant parts. Since you don't want the sign you can also delete the sign TXTR, MMAT, and TXMT to make the package smaller. The zebra stripes are simply part of the texture. =)

Thanks guys, its all greek to me, have built what I wanted and didnt end up needing the ramp. Think I will leave this object creation to the pros, and just build the lots!! :)
