hello kind patient wise and talented gentlepeople!

i've looked everywhere i can think of in hopes of finding a way to coordinate sim careers with their hobby enthusiasm levels. it just doesn't seem right that when a sim with the culinary career (for example) goes to work, it doesn't count as a "cooking related activity" that boosts his/her enthusiasm. same with musicians and dancers, athletes, scientists etc.

i reckon someone in this fine forum has looked into making a cheat or a modification or whatever to create that kind of link between careers and corresponding hobbies, but i haven't found it. if something like that is around somewhere - or even if it's been discussed at all - i'd be very grateful to be pointed in the right direction. thank you kindly!

Or are you looking for ways to raise the enthusiasm just by going to work?

^I believe that OP Is looking for this. OP, sorry, but I've never seen anything like it; it would be cool to have, though. Perhaps someone with modding experience can comment on whether or not it's possible.

I believe she means that, if a sim has a job as an artist, merely going to work every day should give him hobby enthusiasm points in arts and crafts, as it's actively doing the hobby that builds them under the FreeTime mechanics. As it is, an artist who theoretically paints all day and does not come home and paint, make pottery, sew, etc., in the evening will gradually lose arts and crafts enthusiasm.

thanks Peni Griffin - that's exactly the tree i'm trying to bark up here:
why doesn't doing the job count as "hobby-related activity"?
it seems like someone must have looked into fixing that gap in the game logic,
and i'd love to either download a brilliant fix for it, or find out why it's not fixable.

There are some benefits...if you're in the Culinary career track, if you make friends with the Cuisine hobby leader that counts as two friends...if you're in the Music or Dance career, befriending the Music & Dance leader counts as two friends, etc.

But I agree...I think that going to work as an artist should increase Arts & Crafts enthusiasm.

Because EA is shortsighted and lazy.

It wouldn't be appropriate for all the careers (off the top of my head, the slacker career-- unless enthusiasm could be changed for individual job levels), but that's a really neat idea if it could be done.
