I had a sim age up today into a child and at first he was fine, but after going to the neighborhood and back to the house, he'd physically gone back to the toddler stage, although he could do anything a child could. I tried aging him down to toddlerhood with simPE once and once with simblender, and once he turned into a child just fine, then changed back to a floating toddler after I exited and went back to the house and another time he turned into a toddler/child hybrid.

Everything was going fine with the game until I used the simlogical cat to move the toddler into a new house for a few days. After I moved him back home, I loaded the old house he had lived in, so the game would be able to register that he wasn't there anymore. I've tried removing all the downloads and deleting the temp files and the cache files.

If I went into one of my backups, grabbed a copy of the kid and pasted it into my current neighborhood would that screw up the game? Or could I clone him in simPE and copy all his memories to the new copy (and how would I copy the memories?) I don't want to have to roll back everyone else in the neighborhood over one sim if possible.

Or could I clone him in simPE nd copy all his memories to the new copy (and how would I copy the memories?) I don't want to have to roll back everyone else in the neighborhood over one sim if possible.I'm not sure how to solve your problem, but I'm reasonably sure that cloning a sim and then modifying his memories will not work. At the very least, you would also have to fix his family ties and relationships, and the memories of every other sim in your neighborhood. Even then, you wouldn't be able to fix the hidden memories (those that SimPE won't allow you to edit), so you'd probably be destroying your neighborhood.

I've seen some cheats around to make your sim children act like adults, sounds like you've accidentally stumbled upon it! I had a look at Youtube and it seems it's done by using boolprop to spawn the Sim Modder, mucking around with ages and using move_objects to delete the sim before reseting the age by shift-clicking on the garbage can. So I imagine you could use that method to make the sim act his own age. It would certainly be safer than replacing him with a clone.

Copying that sim from one of your backups into the game -should- not mess things up any further. That is how to recover a sim. But you should make a backup of the neighborhood folder, just in case there is something else going on. And if the kid was already glitched when the backup was made, he will still be glitched.

You could also use the blender to take him back down to baby, then age him up from there, and see how that works.

Thanks for the help. I was all set to paste him into a new game but I ended up trying something a little weird before I did and it worked.

Just in case anyone else has this problem, I rolled the game back to just before his birthday, aged him back to a kid with the sim blender, then drowned him in a pool (figuring that the might keep turning into a "choddler" because for some reason it didn't register that he wasn't still a toddler on a different lot. So, I thought killing him might finally get the game to release the extra info it kept holding onto. Then I had a sim call the grim reaper and buy him back. I exited the neighborhood and went back a few times to check and he still looks normal.

I don't know why it worked or if it ever would again, but so far so good. I still have the back ups just in case it stops working, fortunately.
